If Ellis leaves, Redick re-signs at a reasonable contract, and Harris and Lamb don't turn into anything special, we win this trade easily. But that's a lot of "if"s.

Haven't had time to read the thread yet, but I assume the general feeling is this was completely insane, yes?

You have that totally backwards.

A team in our position should be developing a guy like Tobias, who is clearly very talented and very flawed. It is the contenders, the teams in position to win a championship, who should view Tobias as a sweetener because they have fewer opportunities to develop his talent.

WE should be the ones trading for guys like Thirsty every chance we get (young, flawed, cheap, talented).

To give him up for 3 months of jj redick is absolutely brain-dead stupid, and gives us yet more evidence (as if 20 + years wasn't enough) how **** up our organization is.

Right. Because I'm sure the Bucks weren't trying to develop Tobes. They ****** gave him the chance to start.

This trade does not make us any better than we are, so what was the point? Are we going to offer Redick 8 million a year next year to be our starting SG?

We know Ellis will walk or will he if no one offers what he would make with the Bucks? Would you want Redick starting at SG for us next year?

Oh Please.

He started what, like 13 games? And rarely got more than 20 minutes. And surprise surprise he gets banished to the bench because it decreased our chances to win now (and even that is debatable).

He's 20 years old. 20. But yeah we gave him every chance to succeed

Yeah, I'm with DB on this. 8M per year is pretty market for what you would get from a guy like Redick. Its the same with Ersan--not that out of linefor comparable players.

And for the next couple of months having Redick does in fact make this team better because he's actually going to be in the rotation.

My favorite line about Harris was written by an ESPN writer last week who was including him in a trade because the thought process was Harris was a good player but was being stymied because he didn't mesh well with Jennings and Ellis. Being on another team could give him a legitimate chance for the first time on his way to becoming a good player.

Yup, these are our Milwaukee Bucks. Getting rid of players with promise so they can get a chance to be a good player on another team. Just too many good ones on this team apparently.

Cool we got a guy named Gustavo. Sucks we still have Los Swago Hermanos backcourt.

Nobody was willing to give up a first for Redick so the Bucks decided to give them a player who likely will be better (and possibly much better) than whoever they get with their first in the summer.

Genius.

Pure genius.

Watching PTI. Kornheiser said something like "Does Redick make Milwaukee go from an 8th place team to a 1st place team? No, Monta Ellis won't even let him take a shot"

I find the hand wringing over Tobias Harris pretty amusing. The guy is not good. He could become a rotation player at best, but I don't see much more out of him.

The only thing I fear from this is that Redick will be resigned for 4/40. If they resign him for, say, 4/28 I like this deal.

If he walks, it's pretty meh. Nothing gained nothing lost.

If Wichmae's intelligence is correct (and I have no reason to believe it isn't), this day could've been worse.

All Hammond's moves are so short sighted, makes me sick to my stomach. Kind of like the opposite extreme of Larry Harris. Why can't we have management that isn't so incompetent.

Because the guy hiring our management team is the most incompetent out of all of them.

What's funny is that there are people that still believe Hammond can build a contending team.

Or maybe he got banished because he just wasn't that good. And I'm sure if he puts up some solid games in ORL this board will blow up with rage, but when Redick is producing there it's because he's a product of a bad team.

Redick's a good offensive player. I think most here will agree with that.

The problem is offering up a first (or the player equivalent) for someone who could be a rental or could end up being overpaid to keep.

That's why I wasn't prepared to offer what the Magic wanted for Redick even though I like him and clearly prefer him over Ellis. But give the Bucks credit, they found a loophole that basically allowed them to pay the price for Redick nobody else in the league was willing to surrender.

Genius.
