Again, if this forum had its way Sanders would've been dumped for a 10th-round pick in the summer. He was another young player who had shown promise and simply needed a legitimate opportunity. Once he got it he's been the team's best player this season. Maybe Harris ends up being a bum. Or maybe he's another Sanders. But given his age, offensive ability and upside there's no way I'd be giving up on him now.

Sanders would've been dumped over Luke and I's dead bodies. It was obvious that he was a defenseive stud in waiting.

Go back and re-read the threads from the summer. There were plenty of people here who wanted Sanders gone and had given up on him completely. There were only a few of us who kept defending Sanders. I took quite a beating from a few folks here for daring to say Sanders was better than Udoh.

Sure, a handful of us knew it but a majority of this board considered him a Udoh "twin" and was willing to throw either in a bigger deal to make something happen. In fact it seemed like most favored Udoh.

Why I'd everyone going ape**** about this here? We didn't give up much and its low risk. Redick is a decent move. Don't get mad at Brick for Atlanta's indecisiveness and unrealistic demands. You all would have flipped out if we threw in Henson, picks, or Ersan to get Smith.

And if that is the trade-off, I'll take my chance on the young players with some promise, because they are under contract for a lot longer, and look how Larry suddenly developed as a prospect. Tobes has a season less experience and is a few years younger. If he breaks out we'll be kicking ourselves. He did show more promise than Larry.

The Mavs got Anthony Morrow and all they had to part with was Dahntay Jones. I like Redick but the asking price the Bucks paid which no other team in the league was willing to surrender was too steep in my opinion. The Morrow trade shows there were other options available that would have cost less and still put the short-term thinking Bucks in line to accomplish their primary goal for this season.

Yeah, even if they were just interested in eeking into the playoffs by acquiring a win now player of Redick's level, they didn't need to invest that much of the future to achieve it.

The theory that they had a deal on the table for Smith + Redick, the Hawks backed out last minute, and the Bucks panicked that they weren't going to fulfill any immediate needs, so they pulled the trigger on just about the same deal for just Redick anyways, makes plenty of sense. Rentals of Smith and Redick shouldn't have cost much more than that. And last season they panicked by taking Monta Ellis instead of Curry because Steph got injured.

This was the year I actually endorsed a win now for the team with how bad the draft was and the way Larry has been playing. But they should have gotten more influential win now players, for that package or less. I'd have maybe taken a chance that Gasol returns in time for the playoffs and given up Ellis and this year's 1st for him. Lamb + Udoh for Redick. And b.s. like that.

We dumped Tobes and Lamb for a rental guy we could've pursued in a couple months.

On top of that we sent out Udrih killing the Dallas deal.

The Hawks' trade falling apart for whatever reason doesn't bother me. If Atlanta wouldn't take Ellis for Smith I had no interest in Smith. The only way I would've traded for Smith is if it meant getting rid of Ellis. And I would not have included much with Ellis to get a deal done. Udoh could've gone with him but that would've been about it.

I was very high on Larry from the start (GAD can vouch for me on this :D ). Not claiming that makes me an expert talent scout but I'd be singing a much different tune if this was Larry circa last year.

Pfft I was the first person to even mention him in the draft thread that year. Admittedly I'd never seen him play and only liked him because he had ridiculously long arms.

Brb applying for scouting position

Also yeah **** this team, obviously.

I'm sure he's at least excited about the prospect (potentially) of showing off to teams in the playoffs.

To avoid ending up with bricks chained to my ankles and tossed in a river by you guys I will keep this brief. I like this deal and like having JJ on this team.

Ok, carry on with burning down the village.

Hammond needed to make another move on top of this one to strengthen our center position. We don't have enough guys for that spot.

Love JJ on the team. Don't love giving up 2 young prospects for him when he's a UFA. Also we still have Ellis. Yuck.
