Is it just me or does westbrook screw things up

Post#1 » by MvPderozan » Thu Feb 14, 2013 5:03 pm

Living in Toronto, i don't get to see much Thunder games, but when i do get the chance to see some games it seems like westbrook is such a disappointment. This guy is so talented but has very bad decision making skills. I watched the UTAH game and even though he shot pretty efficient, there was many plays where Durant was open and he didn't give him the ball. I mean you have the best scorer in the game, and you don't give him the ball?
There are times when Durant is HOT, and westbrook doesn't give him the ball the next few plays and instead takes it himself because it seems like he doesn't want to be outshined. To me to seems like these guys really don't get along but just are forced to play together. I always think if westbrook plays with half the IQ of a chris paul, we can beat the heat.

I live in Toronto to and I do catch the highlights of all the games and I have been to the most recent OKC @ Toronto game (we lost). However I believe that Westbrook is cancerous. I've seen him rage for no reason (most recently against Wolves I believe AND THEY WERE UP). Let's not forget game 3 or was it 4 when he made that idiotic move cause he thought the shot clock reset. If you think I am hating, ask Skip Bayless (ESPN Analyst) agrees. Another problem (not so much a problem) is that he takes more shots than Durant. Also he is a shooting guard playing a point guard. Even Bayless states the same facts as me. I do believe if he matured up and played as a team he would elevate his team, however I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

I had to create an account and laugh at you for throwing around Skip Bayless' name as if it was going to prove your point.

Thanks for the laugh.

Bayless is more accomplished than you my good friend. He is on ESPN (a sports leader television station) where he is paid in the 6 figures and able to fly first class to any games he wishes. Stephen A. Smith gets paid I would say close to a million (including accomodations and airfare, etc).

He also loves Tim tebow.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

The twolves video shows why that guy is an idiot. Wide open shots by a solid 3pt shooter aren't bad shots because you're down by 8. He definitely hates Westbrook because he has a notion that he's a basketball savant seeing things much more clearly than everyone else. He never breaks down the videos where Russ destroys teams because they'd go against his long running narrative.

Coach Nick of BBall Breakdown takes a look at Scott Brooks' and Westbrooks' decision making in a recent game.

What do you want them to do, trade him? You aren't going to get an impact player back the same caliber as Westbrook. He is what he is. Thunder fans don't seem to mind. What is their record, last I looked it was much better than Portland.

Hey Shem how'd that core of Oden, Roy and LMA work out for you?

What you said was that other people hate Westbrook. Well, duh. He's one of the most consistently hated on stars in the nba, but very rarely by the people who watch him nightly.

Not quite, show me a player who makes zero mistakes? Yes the guy makes mistakes I'm not saying he doesn't but does he dominate games in positive ways too? Yep. This whole thread is crap we have been listening too for years.

And again is Westbrook the best the Thunder have at that position? Uh-huh, so what would you like them to do? Trade him for Lillard?

I just don't see the point of this thread other than hate because Westbrook isn't going anywhere.

I bet if some guy had an axe to grind against Kobe there would be hours of tape where he should have passed to the wide open man instead of taking that jumper with 3 guys draped over him. Does that make Kobe a horrible player? Or is that just a flaw you live with because he brings so much to the table?

As someone who isn't a Thunder fan but loves to watch Durant and has League Pass, I watch a lot of bad decision making from Westbrook and I am sorry, but you cannot tell me with any amount of honesty that Westbrook should be shooting more than Durant. Durant is the best scorer since MJ and Westbrook takes 19 shots a game while Durant takes 18. That may not seem like a lot but when you watch games like the one on now vs. the Knicks you can see just why the Thunder would be better with a pass first PG who would give Durant what he needs. 21+ shots a game.

I actually dont have many problems with Westbrook shooting more than KD. KD is so effective and efficient because he knows when to take his shots, he is not the same type of player as Westbrook or other stars. If he does not feel he has the shot, he wont take it and he rarely forces shots. This idea that without RWB he would be scoring more or taking more shots or whatever is just silly. The man has averaged nearly 30 with very high percentages for four years now.... think about that one.
Westbrook however is a guy who needs to have his shots validated. So if he gets two or three shots go in and gets himself motivated, there is a good chance we will see him post 23+. And yes, RWB is very necessary for the Thunder's long term success.

What i actually have more of a problem with is Ibaka not being more involved with the offense. I think as we have seen with Harden, if you put Ibaka on a team where he is the number one option, the guy will have a 20+ average. I think them spreading the floor with him a bit more is absolutely needed for this team. But, i think Fisher realizes that and he brings more to the team then anyone else could.

So Shem what does if feel like to have so much hate and jealousy towards Westbrook, that it effects you enough to take time out of your day to find evidence for a point no one in OKC really cares about?

Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
