Really? What's wrong with having 2-3 3 pt snipers on the floor at the same time? A lot of teams are going that route. Houston looks for the three every time they get the ball, if they don't get a fb basket.

With ersan dunleavy and redick on the floor with Jennings will give bigger lanes for Jennings to work which is one positive. The negative is no defense what so ever

Redick is a better defender then Monta, Udrih or MDJ.

Agreed but to be fair that bar was set really low. :)

It would work much better on a team that actually has players that drive the defenders into the paint. Otherwise you just have dunleavy and redick standing out by the perimeter taking contested jumpers cuz jennings and ellis aren't those types of players.

I don't really care about Eric Maynor. The bigger point is Hammond got dealt again today.

Boy among Men. Danny Ferry drank his milkshake. The Orlando GM maybe did also.

Maybe I need to go back to this avatar (Ferry on left/Hammond on right)

"John, we're going to trade you Josh Smith. You just wait until 3pm Eastern Time to call me back and I'll tell you where I'm dropping him off on Kilbourn Avenue. Ok? Kilbourn Avenue"

Let's not put a crown on Ferry's head just yet. He still has Josh Smith on his roster and may end up getting nothing for him in the summer. Plenty of teams wanted Smith so it's not like Ferry didn't have the opportunity to get something for him now.

I finally realize what John Hammond has been referring to when he mentions "assets."

Assets are young players on rookie deals and expiring contracts that he feels he can throw together to obtain veterans who meet the "win now" criteria.

And in all fairness, I said the other day if I'm Hammond....I do the exact same thing. If my boss' expectation and only goal for me was to make the playoffs (even as an 8th seed) I'm doing everything I can to "win now" at all costs. Screw the long-term future of the organization. What do I care? All I'm doing is trying to create job security for myself.

That's why we need an owner with championship aspirations and not one who's happy collecting playoff money for 2 games at the BMO BC and a sweep.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

I'm not proclaiming Ferry to be a particularly good GM. Just that he completely bamboozled Hammond's master plan that's all.

Just read the caption above in Daniel Day Lewis voice from that movie.......

The worst part of today is that BOTH Monta and Udoh are still on this team. Puke in my mouth!!! Man, I hope Monta has a reserved seat right next to Gooden for the rest of the year. Just a very sad day!

May have already been posted.

Milwaukee: C+

What are the Bucks doing? That's been the question everyone around the league has spent all week trying to figure out. Milwaukee was as active as anyone, and reportedly in discussions to trade for Josh Smith as part of a three-way trade until just before the deadline. Those talks broke down, but the Bucks still made the biggest splash of any team by acquiring Redick.

Despite Redick nominally being a rental -- he's in the last year of a contract -- it's somewhat unclear how much this trade will help Milwaukee the rest of the way. That will depend on how interim head coach Jim Boylan manages his revamped backcourt. The Bucks don't have a true backup for Brandon Jennings at the point after dealing Udrih, which presumably means Redick and Monta Ellis will share ballhandling duties as part of a three-guard rotation. If that's a win, it's not by much. The clearer upgrade comes when Redick takes Ellis' minutes, giving Milwaukee a more efficient option at shooting guard. Our Bradford Doolittle estimated that change adding about a win to the Bucks' bottom line.

The more interesting question is what Milwaukee does this summer. Assuming Ellis opts out of his contract, the Bucks have the option of using the amnesty provision to clear Drew Gooden's salary off the books and cut their cap figure to about $44 million. (Trading Ayon or turning down his player option saves nearly another million.) That means Milwaukee could offer Smith somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-17 million as a free agent, which might be the best offer he gets, while still re-signing Jennings and Redick.

The Bucks would have to skimp on filling out the roster to stay under the luxury-tax threshold, but a starting lineup of Jennings, Redick, Smith, Ersan Ilyasova and Larry Sanders is an intriguing mix. That might even be good enough to earn home-court advantage in the East. Of course, Smith might not really be interested in playing in Milwaukee, and giving up the promising Harris remains an expensive price for the right to pay Redick fair-market value this summer. So the Bucks don't grade out much better than if they had done nothing at all.

Redick has more twitter followers than any of our current players, and almost as many as the team, Hammond considers that a win. Guess you could say we got our marquee player...

Why do I let myself get sucked into comments on posts on Facebook? Or (much more rarely) ESPN comments? People are complete **** morons. I need to know to only talk sports here and BadgerBlitz. But no matter how much I tell myself that, I always end up making a mistake and getting sucked in.

ETA This is about the comments section on the Bucks' post on the Redick trade.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgUqtcpREY4 Ish Smith. Not a bad/horrible highlight session.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3ftXBhbgFk Gustavo Ayon. Seems pretty athletic. Could be serviceable at times.

Hammond probably had never heard of either and watched these videos before approving.
