If we matched that Asik contract, we wouldn't be able to sign Mirotic for 2014-2015.
Rose $18,862,876
Noah $12,200,000
Deng $10,000,000 (let's just say an average range of 10 million)
Taj $8,000,000
Asik $14,898,938
Boozer $16,800,000
$80,761,814 - way into the tax, can't risk getting into the repeater under the new CBA. And the entire roster hasn't been filled out at this point.
Korver? While an elite three point shooter, that's all he can do and he's essentially been useless in the playoffs: 7.1 PPG, 0.412 FG%, 0.381 3P%.
How could we afford Ben Gordon's contract when we're already in the tax?
And why would we want to give up assets for a rental in Redick? While he's a good shooter, he's not the kind of player that is going to put the Bulls over the top.
GetBuLLish wrote:Or how about simply not conducting business in such a manner that virtually every NBA writer consistently states something like "The Bulls big goal is to cut costs" or "The Bulls are very wary about the luxury tax"?
So we should just blow cash on anyone and everything and operate like the Knicks?
GetBuLLish wrote:Or how about saying to Rose, "Hey, you work your ass off to get back on the court. And while you do that, we're gonna make this team better for when you get back." And then going out and actually doing this.
Again, players like Redick or Josh Smith aren't going to put us over the top.
