Some great stories, as expected. From his boxing days esp.

Rogan asking what's the most Dana ever lost (gambling) in one night: 1 million dollars.
Then asked what's the most he ever won: 6 million.

Also, the reason the ufc doesn't go to the Palms anymore is because they cut Dana's gambling credit line down? That is just unreal. I don't think we realize how rich this guy is.

Joe should ask him how much money he thinks Ian McCall has in his bank account.

"LOL. I don't know. I don't know any numbers less than a thousand"

That would be a very atypical pattern for gamblers.

Yeah, acknowledged it and everything. Essentially called the Palms "pussies" cos they minimize bets.

The most disturbing thing I thought was his reaction to having that private school bring him in for a meeting re: his son's reading. I don't know how to analyze it. But I'm pretty sure that's an insane reaction. Rage and misdirected blame and pulled his kid out of the school that day. WTF? Seems really unhealthy.

As expected, the points where Dana just got defensive to fanboys (thanks, Redban, for iterating those for us...douche) and covered the usual talking points was boring. Media scrum stuff. But some of this stories were amazing. I would kill to hear three hours on yakuza/Pride, LV boxing, gambling, etc.

Dana's in rough shape man:

He has his ear thing and has been getting "attacks" (basically dizzy spells?) every day.
He has sleep apnea.
He said his septum is severely deviated from boxing.
He says he doesn't sleep at all.
He travels probably as much as any human.
He claims to work from early morning to late at night.
He clearly is high strung, high stressed, and probably high blood pressure lol.
He says he's trying to eat healthy lately so I assume his diet has been bad or at least "not good" for awhile, which is totally understandable with his ridic schedule.
He says he has "spots on his brain" of essentially brain damage he took in his boxing days.

Dana RIPPING Fitch during the 157 scrum. Wow. Unreal. Dude pretty much dominates everyone outside of gsp for 8 years and Dana undersells his accomplishments like no other. He's so so defensive though, he knows he's wrong.

In the meantime, Leonard Garcia and Dan Hardy just got signed to lifetime deals by the ufc. LULZ.

I loved how Rogan sort of stood up for Fitch though against Dana on the podcast. "Fitch is a REALITY" is how Rogan put it. You need to be able to handle that as a martial artist.

Fight Matrix has Fitch as the 3rd best welterweight of all time, and 4th is far behind...

In the meantime, Leonard Garcia and Dan Hardy just got signed to lifetime deals by the ufc. LULZ.

That's a joke right? Hard to tell with Dana...

Yea I'm joking.

Its just awkward though because there is a GREAT argument that Garcia has lost his last ELEVEN fights lmao. 4 lost outright, Nam Phan was ROBBED, lost to Hominick, KZ was ROBBED, that's 7 losses without any educated arguments to the contrary. Draw to Roop I don't recall that, lost to Gamburyan then a split dec win. Arguably 11 in a row. Still around. Jon Fitch cut. lmao.

Yeah, Dana's defense of the Fitch thing was weird and over the top.

Kept saying he's the #9 WW in the world but on his way down the rankings, and in the same breath says nobody outside of the UFC will beat him. Shouldn't you want that guy in your promotion?

He touched on the real truth at one point, and he would have been better off expanding on that (or just cutting it short) than ripping into Fitch. He said something to the effect of "Jon Fitch isn't cheap. He makes too much money to fight on the prelims." Could anybody really get too upset about that?

But Joe thinks of MMA as "reality fighting", as "what would really happen". Very few others do. I don't think I do either.

Until you can eye gouge, bite, attack the nuts and scratch MMA will never be like a "real" fight.

He could fight for free and not belong anywhere near the ufc, just imo.

Its the best proxy we have though. They are all limited by the same rules. I guess my point is, I don't see anyone whooping Cain Velasquez's ass no matter the ruleset. Imagine if groin strikes were legal with Anderson Silva coming in for the plum...

Its impossible to train the stuff mentioned in your post at full resistance.

I dunno, I've never really looked at MMA as a way to determine would would happen if this discipline fought that one or whatever. It's skewed against kickboxers/muay thai guys anyway because they can't kick or knee downed opponents. It'd be like telling a wrestler if your guy scrambles out you have to let him back up rather than jumping on him again.
