Jeff Teague

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:32 pm

Jeff Teague is a RFA this offseason, do we want him and will the Jazz make a run at him? He's having a decent season, hes averaging 14 points and 7 assists a game. Anyone see a lot of his play this year, does he have what it takes to be the PGOTF?

What do you want from the PGOTF? Teague won't ever be more than the 4th or 5th best player on a playoff team.

NO. Teague is the quintessential AVERAGE point guard. He's NBA tofu. we can get players at his level any time. Let's try the draft first, see how that works out.

Atlanta will be under the cap as well. If Atlanta cat get chris paul then they will open the bank for him thus he doesn't go to Utah.

Jazz management refused to take on a long term contract today to add a piece for the future. what did they expect? of course they had to take on a long term deal to get a piece for the future, otherwise the other team doesn't do it.

Jazz should have went all in on Harden before he was traded to Houston and totally blew it!
Play with the Pass, Play with a Purpose, and Play with Pace along with Obvious Unselfishness....Coach Snyder says the sky is purple than Jazz players say nice purple sky! LONG LIVE THE MAD SCIENTIST!!!!

I see Jazz just resigning Mo, unless we can give away some guys and get a super awesome PG/contract player.

Worst case scenario is actually best case scenario to me:

Jazz give up AL, Paul, Mo, Marvin, Wats and Bell in the off-season, and pick up a contract like Chris Paul or some other open Point Guard who has a major contract, and have him start with Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter. Then use the remaining money to sign a couple other cheaper FA's.

I think Chris Paul is the player everyone wants. I don't think we can get him, but we will be one of the teams who have enough space. I would gladly let AL and Paul walk to get CP3, and pay him more than others. Cause not only will we get him, but we could use him for trade, later, like we did Dwill(cause I don't think he wants to be here).

Assuming were looking for a PG, I would put Teague on the list of potential 1 year sign on' next year. We don't need to sign PGOTY/F, we need to sign someone for the year. CP3 is the only major contract, with several right under the 10 mill mark.

The way I look at it, Mo can be PG or SG, he can make clutch shots, and did play with King James, he wants to be here and has experience, but he is relatively expensive for what we get in comparison to other FA's this year, and the other PG's will be harder to get.

If he doesn't want to be here then how do we sign him in the first place?

The jazz can't pay CP3 more than others, since he's going to get a max contract. max contract is the same for everyone, regardless of the team that offers it, so if he can get the same money in utah or in somewhere else - he's not coming here.

the only team who can pay him more than others is the clippers, who own his bird rights.
