Kobe vs Kobe

Post#1 » by Soul Chef Fresh » Sat Feb 23, 2013 9:39 pm

If we disregard the seasons of 05-06 and 06-07 (where Kobe was literally unstoppable and had his best statistical year), which era of Kobe was better in all aspects and facets of the game?

The Kobe from 02-05 (The period when it went from being Shaq's team to Kobe's.. Also the period when he cut the fro.)

or

The Kobe from 07-10 (The Pau Gasol era/Championship years)

The criteria would be in terms of:
General stats (FG%, 3Pt%, PPG/A/R/S/B/TO, etc)
Defense
Athleticism
BBIQ
Competition (Strength of the Conference those respective times)
Hero Ball (Final 5 minutes & Final 24 seconds to win)

and also, if you were aiming to build a championship team, which Kobe would you rather build around? For this question, we'd be looking at a specific year of Kobe. So for the 02-05 era, it would be Kobe at age 24 vs Kobe (07-10) at age 29.

If this has been discussed already, feel free to trash/close. Just interested in this board's opinion.

Earlier Kobe had to be better. He was more athletic and a better defender than he was in his later years.

Or maybe not.. lol It's hard to say. HIs footwork now is just so amazing. Hopefully he can teach Dwight a few things in the offseason.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

2007-2008 Kobe was AMAZING even though we lost in the Finals (way to help him in Game 4 bigs)

If 2007-2008 Kobe played w/ Shaq MY GOD THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CRAZY
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
