Are the Jazz dismal after timeouts?

Post#1 » by StocktonShorts » Tue Feb 26, 2013 12:20 am

82games published this awesome look at how teams did out of timeouts a while back and the Jazz (under Sloan) were 4th in version 1 of the list and 1st in version 2:

If that study was done for Ty Corbin where would the Jazz be? At the bottom or just near the bottom?

Yeah. Corbin isn't great with the x's and I'd it seems like. We still run some of Sloan's and Phil's inbounds plays so maybe just kinda near the bottom. I really miss having a coach that could draw up plays in close games.

Anyone actually have stats to offer? Or just speculation?

I'm tempted to go mine the game logs for the data; I'm just scared of how much work it'll be.

Yeah - I searched for every combination of words and couldn't come up with anything that I didn't have to pay for. That would be a lot of work...you'd have to do it for more teams than just the Jazz to get any real perspective.

The eye test tells me yes. The real stat is comparing the change in FG% from a teams average to a timeout (ideally, holding for the time left in the game). I don't think absolute post-TO FG% tells the whole story.

But anyways, I'm going with yes.

Almost as dismal as they are during the start of the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Now why would they suck during the beginning of those quarters?!?!?
