I don't agree because if you look at what type of player Kemba is, he's not a pure pg with great playmaking ability. He's a scorer first and foremost trying to play the point. We have not seen Kemba running the show like Kyrie does for Cleveland, or Lillard does in Portland, he's not a floor general like that to be a elite PG and on top of that he isn't even 6 ft tall.
Kemba and DJ Augustin are damn near the exact same player only difference is Kemba may have more heart, and may finish around the rim better, but DJ had the better jumper. Neither of whom can really defend man to man, and neither of whom were great playmakers, but DJ was a little more natural at the point position. Who knows what would have happened if DJ would've had a whole offense catered to him like we are trying to do for Kemba, and if he was really was a borderline star he should be getting about 20 plus per game. Again the whole offense is catering to Kemba and we got this from Bonnell when he wrote...
" Following the worst season in NBA history (7-59), Bobcats management chose a new coach whose primary sales pitch was making Kemba Kemba again. A colleague of Hicks’ at St. John’s, Dunlap promoted an offense full of the drag screens that freed Walker all the way back at Rice High.It was an easy sell, and Walker thrived, averaging 17.3 points, 5.6 assists and 1.9 steals. As president of basketball operations Rod Higgins said at midseason, Walker has the keys to the car."
So if Kemba is on a bad team but a team where he has free reigns to do his thing, he should be putting up better numbers, another team with a more traditional offense isn't gonna have a style catered to his play, I think Kemba is suited to be a spark off the bench who can get you buckets, not as a floor general controlling the flow and direction, this isn't what Kemba does, even Dunlap said
"You’d like a Peyton Manning disposition in huddles,” Dunlap described of his point guard. “Kemba has a quiet disposition, so pulling that jacket on can be kind of difficult. It’s not his nature. But it needs to be his nature.”
This isn't the character of a point guard and is just further proof of what Kemba really is, he's a SG trying to play the point because his size limits what he can do in this league.
There is really no comparison between Walker and Augustin.
Walker is heads and shoulders above him.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread 2.0
FGA per game
Kemba- 14.8
Lillard- 15.5
Kyrie- 18.5
So it doesn't matter if the offense is built around him or not, Kemba still can't even get as many shots per game as the players hes being compared against... The reason why is that no other player on the Bobcats scares the other team. The other teams defense is focused on Kemba every night and we have no one else that can consistently hit shots to take pressure off Kemba.

Lillard is a rookie playing with Batum and a all star in Aldridge, if he ONLY had Mullens and a offense that catered to him being a scorer how many points would he be scoring?

No, the reason is because Kemba can only be ran off a high screen for so long before teams pick up on it, Kemba isn't being doubled so that he has to get rid of the ball or trapped so he has to pick up his dribble early. And Ben Gordon isn't a concern to any teams? Mullens hasn't earned the repect of anybody yet? You don't think Sessions (who averages just about as many points as Kemba) is a concern when he' one of the best in the league in getting to the free throw line?
freakon0mics wrote:Please stop saying those two words. DJ cant even beat out George Hill in Indiana.
Kemba wouldn't beat out Hill either, the last time they played Kemba had 8 points and a +/- of -18 while Hill had 11 and a +/- of +24, most importantly Indiana got the win and they missed two of their starters that game.
James Gatz wrote:DJ to Kemba is a really bad comparison IMO.
DJ and Kemba are both short shoot first point guards, both of whom are very quick, and can score in bunches when they get hot. The only difference is Kemba plays tougher and he got the full support of his coach and front office while DJ got grumpy Larry Brown. If DJ had the same coach and support from the offense he'd do exactly what Kemba is doing, maybe more point wise.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread 2.0
He'll be at 50.0 3P% by November 2013
Just kidding but it's possible. Anyway I've noticed that he's been taking pride in shooting beyond the arc since about late December. Earlier in the season he was playing like he was running downhill trying to attack the basket until teams started adjusting. It's nice to see him make his own adjustment to stay productive.

That's long gone. Kemba's FG% is 2-3% higher, his 3P% is less than 1% worse than Knights (36 vs 37), and Kemba's FTs are better as well.

I know it's been mentioned before but his home vs away stats are just crazy i don't think i've ever seen anything quite like it and it seems to be getting worse. At home 20.3ppg on 46%2fg 43%3fg and away 14.7ppg on 39%2fg and 28%3fg.

6. Kemba Walker's Surge
Walker has come scorching out of the All-Star break, putting up 25 points per game on 53 percent shooting over Charlotte's last four contests. Walker can still go through some wild stretches in which he dribbles into a crowd without a plan, but if he can consolidate these gains over the season's last few weeks, the Bobcats' outlook gets a bit brighter.

His away numbers have been improving though.
