Mo Williams Interview yesterday - could return March 1st?

Post#1 » by pbj » Tue Feb 26, 2013 6:14 pm

Hello friends,

I was told that Mo Williams gave an interview during the game yesterday, where he said that he could return as soon as Saturday.

Can anyone confirm that he said this?

Thanks, appreciate it :D

Clearly you haven't been paying attention to our head coach. Mo's return will mean the end of Burks' minutes.

I actually think Burks will keep getting burn like he has been and Tinsley/Watson minutes will start to disappear once Mo is ready. Ty seems to take the same approach as Jerry used to for injuries: put the 3rd-string guy into the SL so the second-string guy doesn't have his role change. I think that's the reason we haven't seen Alec start yet.

I really wish I could believe this. I hope you're right, but I kind of doubt Burks gets too much burn upon Williams' return. On the bright side, the Jazz are more fun to watch when Mo Williams is playing.

I think its obvious that Burks should be the rotating backcourt with Mo and Foye.

This Years Rotating Idea:
Mo - Foye - Burks = Rotating Backcourt

Marvin - Carroll = Rotating Small Forward

Hayward = Source of Power not Jefferson

Millsap - Jefferson- Favors - Kanter = Actual 4 man big men rotation
^the problem here is, to give each person good minutes, your handing each guy 2 full quarters to get 24 mins. But were giving both Paul and Big Al 30 mins plus, which has been taken from Kanter who gets 12 minutes. I can't comprehend the logic behind not giving him minutes, he is either our future man or just some dude we drafted to trade, we need to pick one already.
I know its easier to rotate 3 guys, cause they all get great minutes, but I can' stand to see Kanter on the bench, let alone given less than a quarters' worth of time. I don't see why all 4 can't have around 24 minutes each, and hand the power to Hayward and Burks.

My Solution: Remove one-two men from the 4 big guys. The only problem here is, you can't replace Paul or Al when you got two guys already to replace them. I just think it makes way more sense to remove Jefferson than Kanter, and even more sense to remove Millsap than Favors. Cause you will never find any new replacement bench for Favors and Kanter under Paul and Al!

My next year 9-10 man Line Up:

New PG(FA/Draft)/Mo - Hayward - Marvin(opt in) - Favors - Kanter
^Big Line Up w/tough defense and plenty of shooters

Burks - Foye(resign) - Carroll(resign) - 1st Round Pick(PF)/FA - 1st Round Pick(C)/FA
^Great bench with great defense, a hot shooter, and hopefully to big defensive guys

By the way.. Yahoo Sports noted today that "Williams (thumb) likely won't return to action for a few more weeks, the Salt Lake Tribune reports."

But I can't find anything on the Tribune's site saying that.

when he was asked about it on tv, they asked him for a time frame and asked if it a matter of weeks. his answer was yes, with him targeting march 1st. so march 1st may be his personal goal, while the medical staff may hold him out for longer.

btw, how come a raptors fan is so interested in mo williams?

I would like him to come back so we can get an idea of who not to keep. I think Burks is just an athletic guy that he can do just about anything in the back court scenario.

I mean we are using Watson for a start PG, having Mo back will be freaking awesome....for the rest of the year. For next year I rather have a younger less-injured-prone player who can play 80+ games a year.

If Mo comes back we can see if he is any good with this team!

I don't know why everyone wants him back, we are a better team when Mo isn't our starting point guard. We are a better team (shudder) when Tinsley starts. I think that he's just gotten too beat up to continue the minutes he is getting.

i want him back because now watson is starting, not Jamaal......... also he's another threat for 3p shot, somewhat that opens lanes for toher guys.

Clearly, the best pg of this team is Tinsley, but Alec and Mo can score a lot more, can defend better, run, ....

Next year if we'll not re-sign AJ and Sap, we need more burks at the point than Jamaal
