Tobias Harris
Only two games in with his new team, second year player (drafted #19 overall) Tobias Harris acquired in the J.J. Redick trade to Milwaukee, is going from bucks bench to blowing up in Orlando. What's the deal with this kid?

Always liked him. Thought he was a bit tweener-ish but put up solid numbers on a per-minute basis.
Nice to see him do well.

Game 1 was just him getting the easiest looks imaginable. Game 2 showed off some of his abilities though. Im sure hell string together nice games until the league catches up.

He is a really skilled player for someone so young ( he only played a year of college ball ). If he gets time he could develop into a really good player.

Two game sample size. It would be highly unwise to read too much into it. In particular, the Magic's game against the Sixers last night was never close. Harris got more run than he perhaps ordinarily would, even on a team dedicated to just developing chemistry between its new young pieces from now until the end of the season.

He is a bit of a steal for Orlando. Always knew he could play. If I were a young player, i would probably hate to play for Scott Skiles and co.

It's Harkless who has been providing steady production out of the two, averaging 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds in the month of February--in other words, both before and after the Redick trade.
I don't have my finger and thumb on the pulse of the Magic, but it may have even been the solid production of Harkless at the wing prior to the trade that gave the Magic the confidence to part ways with Redick, and further explore what they can accomplish with both Harkless and Harris to begin with.

Re: Tobias Harris
I saw him in 2 games this season against Boston, first months....played great on offense, also defended Pierce on defense. He imo has potential, good trade for Orlando.
Vujačič(22), Nicholson(23), Harkless(19), Harris(20) is solid rebuilding start. Add top 3 pick this season and Orlando is doing this right.

Re: Tobias Harris
I remember in the season opener the Celtics couldn't stop him. Typical Skiles for putting him in the doghouse for most of the season. He has a good jumper and decent low post game and should model his game after Pierce.
Great trade for the Magic. They didn't want to resign Redick and got a 20 y.o. with solid potential. If Harris was in the draft this summer, he would be a very high pick.

Re: Tobias Harris
Bucks management are the biggest idiots ever. Fans have known this kid was going to be a beast for the last two years, but instead of leaving him in the starting lineup after 13 games Skiles decided to bench him for Marquis Daniels.
And then we trade him for a JJ rental.
fffffff us.

If he blows up I need to eat crow. I thought he was a bust
Had already been tasting the feathers cuz he'd been playing well in his minutes...

You make it sound like he lit it up in garbage time. Harris was 4-4 and scored 9 points in the 1st half in only 12 minutes of PT. When he exited in the 2nd quarter, the Magic were down 1. In the 2nd half, he hit a big three in the 4th with 9:18 left that made the lead 17 and caused Philly to take a TO to try to regroup.
Harris is legit. He could easily lead the Magic in scoring the rest of the year and do it again next year.
Orlando isn't even running any offense for him yet. It is all off the ball and fast break points right now. Once he starts getting some offensive sets where he gets the ball in the post, he'll up his scoring even more. He could have some 25+ PPG nights if they do that over the coming weeks.

Re: Tobias Harris
Every now and then, there's a player who's really starter material and/or quite good, but just never gets the minutes to show it.
Acie Law was one of those players.
Look at their 36 minute stats.
When Acie joined up with the bulls, I was so excited.... and then we played Pargo over him. In his only starts, Acie was getting 20 PPG
Sometimes, it just doesn't make sense. 36 minute stats are very accurate I've noticed.... as long as there's a big enough sample.

Re: Tobias Harris
The kids a decent prospect and seems to be a good guy. I hope he does well. I think he's going to have problems on the defensive end until he retires but he already is a capable offensive player. probably 15ish ppg on good efficiency. I doubt he'll ever be an allstar but definitely could be a starter on a good team.

With essentially no sample size due to the Bucs not giving him any burn, how does one conclude he will not be as good on D as you claim? The two games with the Magic looked promising on both ends imo.
