Top Free Agent Targets

Post#1 » by Neon Black » Wed Feb 27, 2013 3:30 am

Who are your personal top 5-6 free agent prospects you'd like to see the Jazz go after this summer?

Let's keep it realistic...obviously we all would love Chris Paul, but that's not likely.

My lists (I'm gonna make 2)

Restricted
5. Darren Collison
4. Chase Budinger
3.Jeff Teague
2. Pekovic
1. Tyreke Evans

Unrestricted
6. Tony Allen
5. J.J. Redick
4. Andre Iguodala
3. Jose Calderon
2. Carl Landry
1. O.J. Mayo

This is all assuming they come at a reasonable price that wont tie the Jazz's hands too tightly in the near future.

I would love to have Mayo. Collison is useless, though.

Some of those unrestricted guys have player options but I agree for the most part other the laundry and Calderon.

How come? Landry essentially brings what Millsap would in a bench role, allowing Favors to start. He's not expensive. Calderon is consistently one of the best play makers in the league. He's super efficient, has an insane assist to turnover ratio, shoots like a champ and could average 10+ assists easily with the Jazz. If the Jazz can be this competitive with Tinsley and Watson starting, Calderon would make a huge impact.

If finding a PG over the offseason is one of our main priorities, i'd love to make a run at Calderon. Been wanting him in a Jazz jersey since Lowry got to TOR

I love the idea of signing Calderon and, if it looks like Millsap's price is going to be too high, Landry would be a great replacement. Of the other guys you mentioned, the only ones I'd really be interested in are Teague and Redick (unless Mayo or Evans has a much lower asking price than I expect). I like Mayo, but he's best suited to be a bench scorer and he'll probably get paid quite a bit more than he should. Redick's a better player and he'll probably be cheaper.

I guess I will be more open to Calderon but at the right price. I am not sure how happy I would be signing him at $12M+ per year.

How about Jarrett Jack, isn't he a free agent this off-season?

nobody is going to pay calderon 12M per year. he'll be lucky to get half of it annually.

I sure hope not. He is getting $11M this year and players want that raise. I would be fine with him in $6-8M range.

Calderon would be nice, Jack would be good too (essentially Earl Watson with a jumper).

I like almost any PG option, its just who ever is the best price/performance, and best play maker.

Allen, Paul, Jack, Calderon, etc I would just need to figure out which ones would be better than Mo, and which ones are better than potential draft picks. I rather have Calderon cause he isn't alway injured, Mo is very likely to break his hand again or do something else, which leaves us empty handed.

I really want to see Favors and Kanter start, so for two new big men I would want bench players who don't cost as much, something you find in the draft.

Really? I think he's significantly better in pretty much every area than Watson.......

A younger Earl Watson was a pretty decent player. I think Jack in his prime is better, but they are similar.

After seeing Teague tonight I wouldn't be upset with him.

our starting back court is making every opposing guard to look like a superstar all season long. teague is not that good.

Yeah, Teague seemed like he had an above average outting last night. If jazz fans couldn't stand harris, i don't think they'd be impressed watching Teague play out a whole season + here.

by the way, Calderon dropped 18 dimes last night with only 2 TO's http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400278574

Calderon would be alright, and maybe Maynor as a cheep backup. Chris Paul would be awesome :)

Mayo and resign Foye, nice to have a 3 pt threat even if the defense sucks at times. Iggy would be fun to watch too

Carroll I would like to resign, Ariza or even Garcia possibly

I'm torn on Big Al as I thing he's really good, but the offense slows a lot of times around him. Which is boring to watch. I also like the way he works with Kanter and Favors on their footwork and moves, etc.
