He is a skilled 7 footer and I rather have him than not have him. He might be traded in the summer to cut down some money off the tax, but is he a difference maker. Not when he plays soft. He needs to go hard to the rim and get rebounds and him the scoring. But Coach D. system seems not to be the system he fits best.

Re: Can we win long term with out Gasol
Gasol has just dropped the ball in terms of being a team player. I've always wanted Pau to retire a laker and I still believe he'll be a top 10 center even 5 years from now, but cmon man... Ginobili has won multiple championships coming off the bench and has never complained. Winning is winning and if you're talking about bolting just cause you're not starting you're a fool.
I respect that he's always honest in his interviews, but he runs his mouth far too much without doing much on the court to back it up. Always on his high chair talking about playing like a team and sharing the ball, but his locker room media etiquette is just foul. Passive-agressive much?

Re: Can we win long term with out Gasol
Oh yah oops I got stuck in a rant. Yeah the lakers can win long term without Pau. Looking at the numbers I think the lakers are gonna trade Gasol for role players and maybe a pick. I'd love to see a guy like mbah a moute, just a great defender at multiple positions. Oh and if we can afford it maybe even monta as a throw in, he'd be a great 6th man. He'd probably be a headache to start the season but once he starts winning for the first time in a long time he'd buy in. I'd be happy with an offseason of Mbah a moute, monta, earl clark, martel webster, maybe donte greene. Our future supporting cast just has to get quicker on the defensive end.

if he's not traded next season and is willing to tax a massive pay cut to resign I'd welcome him back with that being said if he can be flipped for younger players or better/cheaper assest next season then I'm also for that. As for the Jenning idea, YUCK.

Pau is definitely gone in the offseason. No way we are paying 80+ mil in luxury taxes. I can see us trading him on draft night for a lottery pick and a bad contract.
*We need athletic wingman, and i'm sure Metta will get amnesty this offseason.

I'd rather keep Pau.. Get his wheels healthy and crush the league next year with Pau being the best big man in the league coming off the bench and winning 6th man of the year Lamar Odom style..
We can make it work if we amnesty MWP, sign Earl Clark and find some way to upgrade Steve Blake. Perhaps trade Jordan Hill for a decent pg? I dunno something must be workable..

I think this isn't that bad of an idea. Partially due to the fact that I don't know what the Lakers could get for Pau and his huge contract with the leagues new financial regulations.
