It's just a conspiracy keep Hendricks from getting a title shot. GSP will fight Diaz, then Henderson, then Silva.

I thought that was how you got a title fight? Oh wait, he won his last fight...

-They wanted Riddle gone, I'm sure.

-LOL @ Overeem with the low T. You could see it in his physique. They let Vitor take TRT despite having been popped for illegals, maybe Overeem too. I need to see someone's interpretation of the numbers, how low was it? Guys do Post-Cycle Therapy to re-start their nuts after having those artificial sources but evidently it's not enough.

It's not justice but it's a start.

Why even have divisions at this point?

#Breaking: @ArielHelwani reports that if @BensonHenderson beats Melendez he wants to move up to 170 and fight @GeorgesStPierre!

No, no, I don't think he's cleared the division has he? It's a little impudent to think he's a GSP or a Silva ready for superfights.

He's short too, you can tell. His legs are about as jacked as his frame can handle, he can't put 15 well-functioning pounds on that frame no way.

UFC won't allow it, IDT, they have to know what would happen. It's ridiculous, he'd get slaughtered. You can't move _up_ to a superfight unless you're Silva or GSP.

Yeah, I don't think they are going to entertain the idea.

Just for fun, Benson, GSP, Silva vs. the top 10 in their division as per the official UFC rankings.

Benson has beaten 3 (Miller, Diaz, Cerrone) with an unavenged loss to 1 (Pettis). To be fair, he's also 2-0 against Edgar, who is no longer ranked.

GSP has actually only beaten 2 (Condit and Koscheck), though he has no unavenged losses...to anyone, actually.

Silva has beaten 3 (Belfort, Okami, and Sonnen) with no unavenged losses.

What this has taught me is that those UFC rankings are weird. And that there are some underwhelming guys making top 10 lists.

The way I read it, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment by Bendo. He was trying to say that it's ridiculous that a winner of a title shot in a division below him gets a shot at him. I can kind of understand where he's coming from, but Pettis has more than earned his shot, and with Aldo it would be a superfight, and Aldo's last two opponents would have been elite LW's.

I would be very surprised if Bendo actually wants GSP. In the past didn't he say something like, "I don't want to fight GSP, do you want to see me get hurt?"

Sorry if it was meant as sarcasm. I can't read that over twitter. I know Dana and the ufc took it seriously, as they said something about him needing to clean out the division and that he wants gsp because its the big money fight.

Anyway, Bendo has said in the past that the weight cut is super hard for him and that he may not always be able to make 155, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him at 170 in the future.

I've also read he walks around well north of 190 but I don't have a source for that so take it fwiw.

Dana has started a slippery slope with this letting guys who don;'t fight in divisions fight for those division's titles nonsense. Superfights are fine, but do them at catchweights or else have them involve Silva because he's actually fought in the divisions he wants to fight in.

Finishing up mmahour: Ariel defending cutting Fitch just goes to show how much of a schill he has become imo. Vehemently arguing that the ufc shouldn't cut Kos 5 seconds after defending the Fitch cut. If the ufc did cut Kos, he'd be talking about how he "gets it".

edit: I'm not saying being ok with cutting Fitch makes you a schill. I'm just saying he has been inconsistent through all of this just to schill out. He's fine with how Schaub fought because he needed the win, but Fitch's style makes him expendable because being fun to watch is more important than winning. Koscheck is on a skid but should definitely not be cut. Fitch on a mini skid and should be cut.

Dana speaking in tongues about how MMA will be more lucrative than Hollywood for Rousey:

Where she's really going to get the money is here fighting. I don't care if she's the lead role in ‘The Hunger Games 2,' she would not make anywhere near - I mean, not even in the universe - to the money she makes fighting."

If HG2 does as well as HG1 (and it'll do better), she could make tens of millions of dollars off even a 2% of the back end deal. Dana's undisclosed PPV bonuses aren't near that. If they were, you know he'd disclose them.

That's a weird thing, too. When asked if Carano would come to fight in the ufc, Dana basically said no because her hollywood gigs are so lucrative.

Carano isn't involved in anything close to hunger games level, right?

She's not involved yet with anything at that level... she has a small role in Fast and Furious 6 and it remains to be seen if it'll be popular... the series has grossed billions, so probably. Haywire lost money, but most industry experts believe she'll be a mega star with some more seasoning. Roger Ebert is one of her biggest backers.

I'd rather see a movie with Carano in it than Ronda, and it isn't even close. Ronda is sexy for a fighter, Carano is sexy for an actress.

Ronda also competed in the Olympics and seriously considered joining the coast guard. So doing something that's athletically competitive might be more important to her than money. She could always try out acting after her career is over like Mike Tyson.

I still go back to the mmahour interview with her manager. I don't want to misquote, but he said something along the lines of Ronda fighting for a few years or something. Ariel even called him out on it, as in why would she only fight for a few years, said he didn't want to see Ronda pull a Carano.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think that I remember Ronda saying something like after she cleaned out the division she'd do a movie or two and then come back and kick the champion's ass. I don't remember where I heard it though.

UFC to be 4th rate boxing pretty soon.

I've never ever been one to hate on ufc just to be different (see sherdog's worldwide forum), although Dana annoys me sometimes. I love the ufc. I never miss an event, and I purchase a good amount of the payperviews. That said, if they keep cutting good fighters just to appease the just bleed folks, I have no issue throwing most of my times/energy to support another promotion, whether that be bellator or wsof or whoever scoops these guys up.

I wonder if there's pressure from Fox to have more guise like Kimbo.

It just makes no sense to support a brand just because. A guy doesn't magically gain abilities the second the ink dries on that ufc contract. Hell, wec guys kicked ass when they joined, and the strikeforce guys are currently doing the same thing, at least so far.

Agree completely. I'm almost at the point where I want the company to fold and someone competent to come in and pick up the pieces. Some kind of natural promoter who can get the mainstream to respect him, someone polished, someone with resources and a track record that can't be ignored yet is always forward thinking.
