Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Hey remember that hook shot lebron was working on a year or two ago that was making some noise in the press about how it could be his next go to move? It seems like he's stepped away from that this season, do you think it's still worth it for lebron to try to work on a good running hook shot?

There are posters on the Heat board absolutely convinced that Miami will be better with Birdman in the lineup than Battier.
It's a reminder of why I stopped posting there.

Nah I've seen him bust it out every once in a while. It's still a work in progress, and he's dynamic enough scoring-wise that he doesn't really need a go-to move. Furthermore, he usually only uses it when he goes middle, and typically when he looks to do that, he's going to be met by traffic in the lane, much more than the typical guy will see, so it's not like it'd be an easy or effective shot for him to use as a go-to move just quite yet. I'd give it some more time.

Yeah I saw you talking about that on there.

Battier's part of all 4 of their top 3-man units that have played at least 250 minutes this season, and they're all due to largely offensive dominance. All in the realm of +20. There's no way playing Andersen over him is going to help. The spacing that's provided with having Battier and Lebron on the floor at the same time is vastly more valuable than Birdman's defense and rebounding.

What about that lefty bank hook from the left block? He hits it almost everytime he uses it, unlike that terrible turnaround jumper. That is a one nice move.

You'll see this from LeBron quite often. He'll bust a new move he's been practicing for a game or two and then gradually stop using it, independently of it's success. Last year, his go-to move in the post was a fade-away jumper which he rarely uses now. Against Indiana, in last year's playoffs, I remember him driving into the middle of the paint and shooting quite a few one-handed runners that went in. Haven't seen him use that shot ever since.
So yeah, in some cases, you're never really sure what he'll do. He's got a massive offensive arsenal.

Yeah, I remember those floaters and I have been wondering all season why he isnt using them. I just hope he is not going to comeback to that turnaround jumper which has been like his worst shot ever.

Based on Bosh, Wade and Battier's data, I can see how the team as a whole shot close to somewhere in the 55% (correct me if I'm wrong) range this past month. Does Miami have the league's #1 offense or is it still OKC ?

How does Lebron rate on your 33-pt scale? 11-10-11? And how has it changed over the years?

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
About to face the league's second best defense. This would be the best defense he's faced since their previous loss to Indiana right before this winning streak they've been on. Should be a good litmus test to see how our current Lebron does against a suffocating defensive team.

Really impressed by the Grizzlies D, they're doing a great job shutting off the lane and have quick rotations. Lebron's struggling to get anything going so far.

I'm getting 2011 Finals flashbacks. Memphis packing the paint, rotations are quick and discipline, Memphis has totally nullified the Heat in transition and LeBron is settling too much. Nothing is coming easy for him and he's refusing to work for it so far.
LeBron was vividly frustrated going into the locker room, it will be interesting to see how he responds

I couldn't agree more. This is very reminiscent of that series. But this should just go to prove that it was Dallas who appropriately prepared for Lebron's style of offense.
Lebron has been looking great defensively, on the flip side.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Lebron's worst game since game 4 of the '11 Finals. Has been beyond invisible tonight offensively, he can't get anything he wants. Credit the Memphis D though, they've been great.
Unreal how bad he's been offensively, both times he got easy shots at the basket he missed. Otherwise, he hasn't been able to get anything but contested jumpers.
Edit: That wide open three that he airballed just sums up his night. Can't get anything he wants for the most part, and when he does get something good, he can't convert.

At least he's trying to make plays in this 4th qtr, unlike that Dallas series. But yeah, this is his worst game of the season. Memphis has done a terrific job hounding his drives, and LeBron's expounded on that by missing every jumper and moving rather poorly.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
All of that's fine, but the difference? Continued confidence and aggression late in the game with Memphis on the verge of making a comeback again.
That last shot was the result.

Was just about to say this. 2011 finals Lebron wouldn't have taken that.
