How would you coach the Raptors?

Discuss. I'm not a pro ball fan like you guys so I can't coach the Raptors. Though I think I'd be able to do a better job than Casey at the very least...

Tell KL to attack the hoop more, draw in the 2nd defender and kick out to Gay/Demar in the mid range. Also, more PnRs for JV/Amir using all 3 of KL/RG/DD.

Plus, 30 mins for JV moving forward. Nothing to lose considering how many games he missed this season.

Involve amir and val more on the offense, you know, like actually passing the ball to Val when he set's a screen and cuts to the basket.

Use more post ups, lot of cuts, I would feed myself in the paint, use the big men more Val and Amir and never ever ever ever play anderson and Bargnani, I would replace those guys with Terrence Ross and Quincy Acy 100 percent

Lowry - 32min
Demar - 34min
Rudy - 34min
Amir - 32min
Val - 30min

Bassy - 16min (Put in Lucas if we need scoring off the bench)
Ross - 14min
Fields - 14min
Bargs - 22min
Acy - 12min

Use Gray when playing big physical centers like Hibbert, Howard, Chandler etc or slugs like Haywood (although I do realize compared to Gray, Haywood is as athletic as LeBron)
Fields can see more run if we have foul trouble etc
Ross and Demar can be on the floor together as long as Lowry, Amir/Gay and Val are on the floor as well
If someone is ice cold or just playing terribly, have one of Peaches/AA/Kleiza check in
If Ross and Acy - heck even Bargs - are playing well you reward them with more PT

Absolutely NO lineup of Lucas, Lowry, Demar, AA, Bargs unless given the OK to tank the season

Im not a coach admittedly, but our starters play too many minutes, our young guys get nothing, and players that should not be on the floor log 20+minutes just because they are good friends with the coach.

First get JL3 and AA to apologize for calling the team meeting to call out Lowry and Bargs.
Second, get rid of small ball all together. We just dont have the defenders on the perimeter to leave our lone big by himself. We cant continue to ask Amir to cover all the blowbys we give up.
Third, tell Kyle to do his thing and forget what Casey, JL3, AA etc told him to.
Fourth, put Rudy in the post.
Fifth, cut the amount of iso's in half.
Sixth, glue AA to the bench.
Seventh, get Fields and Ross a little more burn and Val some more minutes in the 4th.
Eighth, make Bargs the clear no.1 option off the bench and try to use him in the post and midrange (have Amir as his partner at 80% w/ Val taking 20%). Never will I ever put Bargs and Gray out there together.
Ninth, play offence for defence. If we are protecting the lead, bench DD for Fields or AA. If we are behind, bring in Bargs for either Val or Amir.
Tenth, fire all my assistant coaches and hire Undefeated to help run the offence and Boris to run my defence.

Championship time.

We have a tendency to over help. Although we lack the personnel to run stifling straight up man to man D, we make it hard on ourselves by doubling every Tom, Dick and Harry that gets an entry pass in the post and gravitating towards guys who, when get into the paint, aren't much of a threat to finish at the rim.

I turned off the Wizards game when Demar doubled Okafor, who on the previous possession either air balled a jump hook or had it blocked, allowing an easy pitch out to Beal for a wide open three. Not sure if this was a case of Demar taking a foolhardy initiative or if Casey encourages this garbage. Either way, it has to stop.

Offensively, this team isn't near talented enough to improvise, which is what it seems its trying to do on a lot of possessions. More structure, more ball movement, more off the ball movement. A team devoid of a post threat needs to get creative with play calls to get looks close to the basket.

Starting lineup:

Lowry 36 mins
Demar 36 mins
Gay 36 mins
Amir 36 mins
JV 36 mins

Bench:

Telfair 12 mins
Ross 24 mins
Fields 12 mins
Acy 12 mins

I would stress playing in the paint because we don't have the shooters to play on the perimeter.

Have Lowry attack the basket much more.
More post ups for Rudy and Demar
Involve Amir and JV much more on offense. Post ups and pick and roll

There's plenty of things I'd do.

I'd re-organize the offence.

I'd have us push the ball whenever the offence drops. None of this "playoff" offence. I'd have the tempo be really high, especially now that we have Rudy and Demar. Every turnover, every possession where the opponent does not have a man back or the opponent is lazy with their transition Defence, I'd tell them to run.

Run hard and with the idea that you will receive a pass.

That said there has to be changes with Kyle Lowry. Kyle has to drive towards the basket more. Kyle has to utilize those drop passes, those cross court passes, the alley oops and generally be more aware of his team mates. With the players we have i'm shocked we don't alley-oop it more.

Kyle has to be much more aware of Jonas Val on the offensive end and will run the pick and roll with Jonas. Plenty of pick and roll actions with Jonas and Amir, especially when the ball is dead. I'd make the team practise pick and rolls non stop tell they have at least the success Jose and Bosh did. Pick and roll basketball is something this team has to utilize in order for the offence to smoothen out.

After we run more and use the pick and roll with Amir/Val, I'll ISO the ball.

But when Iso'ing, i'd keep what Casey has done -If Gay is double teamed he passes it cross court to Demar and vice versa.

I also would keep the Iso post ups of Demar/Rudy, However, I'd give the ball more to Jonas when he rolls or posts up. However instead of Val going for a lay up, I'd make him kick out to our wings for a nice mid range shot (since we suck at 3's).

As for minutes, I'd let John Lucas remain and utilize Alan Anderson ONLY as a 3-point shooter. Alan Anderson is not allowed to drive or Iso, and every time he does without passing out, i'm benching his ass.

Lucas is a much better offensive player, but he better pass the ball around. No more 1 on 1 when there are matchup advantages we should take.

I'm also giving a lot more minutes to Ross. His 3 point shooting and athleticism is needed. I'd rather Ross then Lucas or Anderson going 1 on 1.

Amir will be utilized more as a post up scorer at times. Acy will be used sparingly, but will give relief to the starting front court.

Aaron gray would be cut, and I'd send a request in that Kenyon Martin be signed to a 10 day contract. Bargnani is not allowed to play much, especially if he continues this garbage.

HMM Well Well Brothers and Sisters, What I would do if I was an Coach of the "craptors"

1st: Tell Ross how good he is then Bench him for an journey man.
2nd: Let AA jack up 15 shots and call team talks to call out Lowry
3rd: Chop the balls off of Lowry and tell him to "POUND DAT ROCK"
4th: Make sure Val sits in the 4th Q and tell him it's to "protect" his confidence.
5th: See our 15 point lead drop to minus 5 Then call Timeout to tell an inspiring speech mainly about Getting the Ball to AA and Lucas.
6: Make Sure Gray an terrible FT shooter gets the pass in final minutes down 3 to pass out to Lucas or AA

7th: Play an elite offence of PG:Lucas SG:Lowry SF:Telfair PF:Fields C; Gray and watch as my Genius subs lead to victory 8-)

If Casey does this, I would Luv him more. He needs to remember that AA needs mins over Ross, AA has an family to feed, Surprised they can survive on the little he makes now.

Tell the team bargnani gets an offensive play run for him for every defensive rebound he gets, otherwise he won't see the ball at all

- not overplay gay or demar for 15 straight game minutes
- no more small lineups
- ross over aa and fields
- jonas more pt
- mainly jonas amir and bargs switching in and out of the 4 and 5
- mainly demar gay and ross switching in and out of 3 and 4
- pass the ball
- better offensive plays
- we're young, athletic, and faster than most team...play higher tempo
- RUN

pretty much just do the exact opposite of what casey is doing and i think any1 would be fine

Bench Bargnani. Ask my GM to release Pietrus & find me some big man depth.

Give Ross a few more minutes & give Demar/ Rudy a little more rest.

Give Jonas 30+ minutes & some crunch time experience.
