For the record, it's Wittman, not Whitman

Post#1 » by dobrojim » Thu Feb 28, 2013 5:19 pm

sorry. I know I made the mistake a few times myself. That
said, we're fans of the team. We should get it right.
What's next, Whall, Beel, Whebster? :)

I know, I need to lighten up. It's just a BB.

Carry on.

I consciously type "Randy" instead of his last name because I don't want to screw it up. Now I see it was for good reason. Beware the grammar wrath of Dobro.

While we're on the subject....

They're going to the game tonight.

Mike and John are going to meet Tim and Adam there.

Tim and Adam will bring their Washington Wizards hats to the game.

Written English needs an overhaul as we get further into the "post-literate" age. If we went to a common spelling of "they're," "there" and "their," we could cut misspelling significantly. I think all three should be spelled "thare."

Remember, when speaking to John or Ves, it's "you're" a bust, "you're" a bust, not "your" a bust

Way to stand firm, miller. We're behind you all the way! (well, everyone but JWiz, I presume...) ;-)

you didn't use green so I'm taking the bait

I think we all, most of us, use slang at times.
edit to add - I GOT NO PROBLEM WITH THAT. :)
I see that as totally different than not knowing the correct
spelling of the name of your coach.

re they're there and their, I'd say sometimes my fingers don't
type the right thing even though I know better. Same thing
with your and you're (among others).

there is also an edit function which can be used as needed.
Thinking of someone in particular here.

Because "he a bust, he a bust" is grammatically correct as well.

"he a bust" is the only correct way to denote a player as a bust.

And it's "moot" point not "mute" point. A mute point would be one that was inaudible.

No, I think it's "YOU a bust."

And if John or Ves was referring to himself, it would be "I a bust" rather than "Me a bust."

jim, I wonder why it's so hard for people to spell Randy Wittman's last name correctly?

My boss likes to talk about different people being in "violent agreement." Drives the Europeans mad. ALmost to the point where they are ready to validate the "violent" part.

My favorite is "for all intensive purposes."
