OT, but I've been watching highlights of Steph Curry from last night pretty much all day...that was insane. So happy we don't have to see them again this year. I think the Warriors are going to give whoever they face in the 1st round a ton of trouble...especially the Clippers. I'd actually take the Warriors over the Clippers in a series tbh.

Anyway, the Mavs are playing better. Don't know about this game. But I think we're an overall better team, and D-Will is playing like himself again. If D-Will keeps it up, and the rest of the team keeps on keeping on, we should win.

PJ could easily screw it up though, so I'm not that confident. Watching Evans try to guard Dirk is going to be hilarious and painful at the same time.

I rather face them now than before. Their defense was around top 10 then and now it's barely top 20. They've been sliding hard.

They blew a 25 point lead in the 2nd half against Memphis, so they will play hard but they are beyond fragile. One or two runs and they are going to fold easily especially on the road.

Winnable game if we bring it like we did against NO/Memphis.

They had a 5 point third quarter.

BTW, D-Will in the New Year (25 games):

18.4 ppg, 7.8 apg, 3.0 TOpg, 58.9% TS (44.0% FG, 44.7% 3PT, 90.9% FT), 118 ORating

That's including a terrible 5 game stretch in the beginning of February when he seemed to regress back to early season form, but he's really put up superstar production overall for the last 2 months, so it doesn't just seem to be a hot streak. The Nets are 16-9 in his last 25 games (he missed 2 games...the Nets won both).

We need him to play at this level from here on out, including the playoffs, or else we're not going anywhere.

Crazy part is he just has begun to play with explosion. He will get some shots before the playoffs, I. Think he will carry us in the playoffs but brook I'm not sure about

If Deron *looks* like he has since the All-Star break, we can do something. He's looked liked the guy we thought we were getting and the numbers/impact will be there.

a little fuel for this thread from the mavericks board:

"collison/mayo are better than williams/johnson"

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1235109

joe johnson

17/3/3 40%fg/38%fg salary: 19 mil

deron williams

16/7/3 41% fg/35% 3pt fg salary: 17 mil

----------------------------------------------------

collison: 12/5/3 48% fg/38% 3pt salary: 2 mil

mayo: 18/4/4 46% fg / 41% 3pt salary: 4mil

and people dissed cuban for not going after williams hard with a 75 million dollar contract

man, collie/ mayo play really well together, and they are unselfish with each other, and they are unselfish with others. I smell a rip/billups type of tandem brewing. Cubes keep them together!..do not tamper with the backcourt!! they are efficient, and let them grow

cubes def getting the last laugh...Bk is paying 36 million for a **** BC, and dallas is paying 6 million for an efficient BC

are we not fragile? did we not nearly blow a 22 point lead to the hornets?

Dirk is going for 40+ against this turnstyle of a defense. hopefully its not enough

Dirk/VC combined for 70, 109-100 mavs

Amazing how you were the most over confident one here in the off-season.

makes me wonder how much better his numbers would look if he took some more time off this season like Stephen Curry does when his ankles bother him.

He just looks like such a different player with that little bit of bounce in his step.

That's why I think he will be the superstar D-Will in the playoffs. He will get shots again right before it and absolutely bring it.

hopefully he can get back to 100% with off season surgery

It's a highly irritating reverse jinx...it got old real quick, like 2nd game of the year quick.

How do you guys expect Vince to be welcomed back?

I at first assumed he would receive big time cheers when he is introduced but, then again, a lot of the newer Brooklyn fans might not have the attachment to him that the rest of us do. Hell, they may not even know he's a former Net.

He should be welcomed...Rick was on w/ Ryan, just heard him complimenting the Nets, never mentioned once Wallace...

:lol comparing collison/mayo to billups/rip when collison can barely beat out MIKE JAMES for crunch time minutes.

I've said it a couple of times, but I'll say it again. Its important that PJ keep Deron fresh. I hope Deron sees less minutes (if I'm not mistaken he's currently 4th in the league among PGs for most MPG) as we approach the playoffs so that he's not only well rested, but also less banged up. CJ has been playing better of late and I think Tyshawn is capable of giving us 5-6 serviceable minutes a game.

I blame the atrocious system on D-Will's average assist numbers.

But yes, he deserves credit. He has picked it up, along with a few slices of pizza apparently

It makes too much sense to play Tyshawn a few minutes a game to keep Deron fresh. Can't do it.
