Super Bowls rigged?

Post#1 » by Celtsfan1980 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 2:08 am

Super Bowl 3:with a new television deal coming up and the NFL-AFL merger, the Jets pull off a big upset. The future of the NFL was at stake. The Colts' MVP quarterback throws 3 first-half interceptions in the red zone. The Colts average 6.2 yards per rush, but only rush 23 times(they had rushed more in the previous playoff games). Morrall is horrible, but his Hall of Fame coach Don Shula keeps him in too long. The underdog AFL team pulls off the upset again the following year. The merger is successful, and they get a new television deal.

Neil O'Donnell throws it to a Cowboy with no Steeler in sight twice.

Mike Holmgrem allows the Broncos to score a touchdown. Somehow he didn't know which down it was, and his players go along with it. John Elway wins his first Super Bowl.

After all of the blowouts, recent Super Bowls have been very close. Ten straight years now without a blowout. It shouldn't be happening this way.

I think the same folks who orchestrated 9/11 and put mind-controlling fluoride in our water rig the Super Bowls.

At least with the third Super Bowl, it would require only Morall and Shula to intentionally perform poorly. Football can be very easy to rig.

Does O'Donnell throw it directly to opposing players in other games that aren't the Super Bowl? If not, why would he do it in the Super Bowl and not other games? Is it nerves?

O'Donnell threw picks because...well he had a bad game. What more is there to say? Peyton Manning has had some terrible playoff games too, were those rigged?

Holmgren allowed the Packers to score because it was 1st and goal from like the 1 with very little time left. You have a better chance of winning if you let them score and get the ball back with time then to let them kill all the clock and kick a FG.

Regarding Super Bowl 3, upsets happen. That's why you play the game.

Sorry, but your notion that the NFL would rig something like the Super Bowl is, in a word, ridiculous. Super Bowls lately have been close because the NFL has a lot more parity in recent years and teams are a lot closer in quality then they used to be.

From what I read it was second down at the 1 yard line for Denver. 1:47 left and the Packers had two timeouts. There was plenty of time left.

The Packers were up one with the Broncos on the 1 yard line. I'd much rather have 1:45 with 2 TO's to try and score a TD then a 1:30 with no TO's. Also lets not forget the Packers would have had to stop Davis twice at the one yard line. So why not save the timeouts and give your offense a chance to win it?

Of course the chances are you won't stop them from scoring a touchdown. It's much harder to score a touchdown than a field goal. Logically you try to hold them to a field goal. 1:30 is plenty of time to score a field goal. Only in the Super Bowl have I seen a team do this.

I can see both ways of thinking on that. IMO you let the team score and give your offense as much time as possible. The chances of the Packers stopping Davis twice is pretty slim too.

I'd easily prefer only needing a field goal, but that doesn't mean it was rigged. If every case of bad clock management meant the game was rigged then there's 50 rigged games every year.
