I'd say his red-hot three-shooting December was better, but this is pretty close. You can tell defenders are starting to respect the jump shot, so he's getting lanes to drive to the hoop a little more often. I think Gerald's a terrific role player, I'd keep him for Redick money pretty easily.

3YRS/$20MM is probably fair to both sides. Like Redick, on that contract, he'll be easily movable later if need be.

I'm very good with that. I'd go with that money on a longer contract too if necessary.

I can't imagine any team giving Hendo that type of long-term guarantee.

I think it's a combination of him getting more minutes, getting healthier from his earlier injuries, and being motivated to be assertive in this circus sideshow called "Bobcats Basketball". He knows we sought to deal him, but he's well aware of the need to finish strong for his next contract...wherever it may be.

I just don't want to lose him for nothing (like we do so many of our lottery picks), but we cannot overpay either. Once again, the Cats could be in another dilemma, leading to a step sideways or back instead of forward.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I think we keep Gerald and play him in the Sessions 6th man role when we get our SG of the future in this draft.

I think we offer hendo somewhere in that 3/18 range or longterm 5/30.

I would have no problem tying Hendo down longterm, we get so caught up in look for that first Bobcats superstar that we continually overlook those who mean so much to our team like Hendo.

He is arguably a top ten SG with his improved jumper and the boxscore doesn't exactly show his intangibles, Hendo right now is in a similar position ceiling wise as Gerald Wallace was and is much better than given credit for.

JR Smith, OJ Mayo, Klay Thompson, Martin, and Turner are better as well.

Sik, you are way overrating Hendo currently and with his ceiling (he won't be Gerald Wallace, that's MKG's job), but I'd pay him that money pretty easily even if he's our 6th/7th man of the future.

I'm saying that.

Off the top of my head and in no order:
Kobe-Is better than Gerald obviously but plays absolutely no D at all.
E.Gordon-Injury prone, awesome player.
J.Johnson-Good player but overrated now after years of being underrated.
Beal-Rookie, flavour of the month, will be better than Hendo but not currently.
Wade-All time great.
Ellis-LOL, is an absolute detriment to his team.
Harden-Best SG in the league.
DeRozan-Hendo>>>>>>
George-Most underrated player in the league imo, awesome SG but is actually a SF.
Afflalo-Overrated.
Matthews-Underrated player.
Iguodala-Actually a SF.
Leonard-Actually a SF.
Ginobili-old, injury prone, near retired.

C'mon now.

Harden
George
Wade
Kobe
Johnson
Ginobili
Mayo-You forgot him
Ellis
Hendo
Derozan

Hendo is a very important player for us, if you take Hendo of this team we are basically trash and have no leadership at all.

I'm not saying Hendo will be Crash, I'm saying that for a 25 year old who hasn't been given a whole lot of chances he has still got a bit left in the potential tank.

I forgot about Klay and I don't rate Smith as good as Hendo and no way is decent on D.

Martin is a good player but is best suited for his role on the Thunder.

Quite frankly, being a top 10 shooting guard, by itself, means very little in today's NBA. The position is severely lacking. Once you move past Kobe, Wade, Harden and Ginobli, you have a bunch of run-of-the-mill guys.

Thats my point!

Luckily the position is in the midst of a revival but in todays NBA a guy like Hendo is borderline top ten at SG.

If we can sign a borderline top ten at his position player for 5-6m a season we have to do it.

I thought I was bad when I was overrating Hendo. You make him sound like a lockdown defender that scores 17-20 points a game as a legit second option. The fact you took him over Eric Gordon and Kevin Martin in the list you made three posts above is ridiculous. JR Smith is also clearly better: his offense is so much better, and his defense isn't as terrible as you think.

He is, at the very very best, an average starting SG.

Sorry I actually forgot Gordon, I said he was an awesome player!!!!

JR sucks a$$, 16 points on 39% on a team where he's open most of the time...

A better way of looking at this is with tiers...

Tier 1: Kobe, Wade, Harden, Ginobli
Tier 2: George, Iggy, Martin, Johnson perhaps, Gordon perhaps
Tier 3: A lot of guys, including Hendo

Henderson hasn't developed as much as he needed to this season, and it's probably going to cost him. An athletic shooting guard with questionable range, he's shooting 35 percent from 3-point range while attempting just 66 this season. I would say he's wise to do so, except for the fact that he takes an inordinate amount of bad 2-pointers (164 attempts from 16 feet and out). This inefficiency in shot selection bears out in his FG percentage (42.9) and eFG percentage (45.1).

At best, Henderson probably is looking at the qualifying offer (basically, the predetermined amount required to retain the "right of first refusal") of $4.2 million from Charlotte. However, it's way more likely that the Bobcats will withdraw the offer and give him a smaller deal."

- Amin Elhassan on Hendo in - "Playing for a Payday, Five Players Trying To Cash In After Their Rookie Contracts Are Up." ESPN Insider

If we could sign Hendo for the QO or less I would be for keeping him.
