Post#1 » by Jake0890 » Sat Mar 2, 2013 12:06 am

Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco has agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens on a deal that's expected to make him the highest paid quarterback in NFL history, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

No contract details released yet. Pretty crazy.

Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a six-year contract worth $120.6 million that makes Flacco the highest paid player in NFL history, a source familar with deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

He's good & all, but highest paid ever?

I feel that Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, & Drew Brees are still better than him.

I think they all undoubtedly are, but he has leverage. He just won them a SuperBowl, and they can't let him walk. Their offense collapses without him.

What a joke of a deal. Can't wait for the team to go 8-8 next year and call for Flacco's head. Now I'm just afraid of what this means for Kaep and other up and coming QBs and their deals.

Well he's not going to have the mantle of highest paid ever for very long if that helps. The Packers will almost certainly have to top this deal in the near future when they extend Rodgers.

Flacco becoming the highest paid QB in the NFL seems really really wrong. Not much the Ravens could of done though. So kudos to Joe and his agent.

Flacco just held the Ravens hostage and they had to pay up, I just hope that Matt Ryan doesn't demand this much because we'd have to give it to him.

Ryan hasn't won a SuperBowl nor had the success of Flacco. Ryan won't demand a contract like this, and no team would give Ryan a contract like this.

Scary... I don't see how playing average during the regular season (at some times pretty bad) and then having a pretty good playoff resume, topped off by 4 games this postseason where he was very solid.. made some very important plays (but by no means dominated the game like we see from rodgers and brady and manning) deserves all this money. He by no means 'carried' them.. he was just a very solid QB who picked it up a notch and came up big when he needed to in the playoffs.

Its just scary cause you can make a case for 5-10 QBs who should make this much money

I agree that he probably won't demand a contract like this but we would have to give him the contract if he did, either that or franchise tag him because you never let your franchise QB walk, especially not when you're so close to a SB

He picked the right time to play his best football. Reminds me of Gilbert Arenas in the NBA, except Flacco actually won something.

Ryan might not get as much as Flacco, but he's still going to be paid handsomely.

No QB should get as much as Flacco. Brady gets $27M/3 and Flacco is the highest player in NFL history. Horrible.

Couple of factors though...

1. Brady is near the end of his career, so he wasn't going to get another mega deal. Can't compare that to Flacco who's in his prime and getting his big contract.

2. Inflation. Guys always make more and more money over time. Within a couple years someone else will sign a deal that will surpass Flacco.

Flacco is worth the money. You don't go cheap when it comes to QBs. Get a good one and do whatever it takes to keep him unless you want to end up in Cleveland Browns or New York Jets territory.

If he keeps improving at this rate, keeps gaining popularity and wins a Super Bowl, then the next QB to get paid will be Kaepernick, which would essentially force the team to release half the defense.

I bet the Redskins are just giddy to pay RG3 too.
