I'm not a Jazz fan and just looking over speculations of Lakers supposedly wanting to sign Raja Bell, and him being still on a contract with you guys, leaves me wondering.
Why isn't he playing? He's not injured? he hasn't played a single game this year... well? what's going on?
can someone explain the Raja Bell situation?

He's not playing because he sucks now and he won't accept a buyout until a team agrees to sign him but no one wants him. The Lakers rumor was false.

wait so, he literally isn't playing because he sucks?
Is there issues with front office or coaching staff or something? Similar to Marbury situation few years back?

Re: can someone explain the Raja Bell situation?
Raja called Coach Tyrone Corbin unprofessional and said their relationship was beyond the point of repair. The Jazz are on the hook for his salary because Bell won't accept a buyout. The Jazz could release Raja, but they'd still have to pay him while he's playing for another team. The Jazz organization simply will not pay a player to compete against them. The Jazz exiled Bell from the NBA by refusing to give in to his demands. No other team will touch him. Raja thus effectively ended his career by publicly calling out his coach.

That's correct.

He's going to make all his money on his contract without putting any effort into the organization. So pretty much getting paid for doing absolutely nothing.

unfortunately, that's not correct. watson sucks and that doesn't stop him from getting playing time. raja sucked for one and a half seasons and still got ample playing time. bell doesn't play and isn't with the team because he had some sort of an altercation with corbin and their relationship is beyond repair, to the point where they can't be in the same locker room together. and raja didn't help his own cause by going public and bash corbin.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I highly doubt he is even in the state or even been in the state for quite sometime.

Re: can someone explain the Raja Bell situation?
Around the middle of last season it seems that Raja got into some kind of argument with Corbin and was sent home from a road trip. After that he barely played the rest of the season after Corbin had played him (inexplicably, because he was terrible) regular minutes.
At the end of the season he called Corbin unprofessional.
The Jazz told him not to report to training camp or participate with the team.

Re: can someone explain the Raja Bell situation?
He won't just sign cause he won't except the money we offered to buy him out(which is less than he makes on contract playing (*See above to why he isn't playing)....pretty much he makes less if he leaves now compared to not playing the rest of the season. Its like being benched permenantly, but since we don't like his face and don't want him around, he stays in another state and still collects his contract salary.
If he does take buyout which he could for full money, if, he just needed another team to pay him the difference if he wants the same money. So he could have signed with anyone in like in Nov, he just wouldn't except what Jazz offered him, and now its too late for him to play in playoffs with anyone this year, so now he is just gonna sit on his ass and make his paycheck till he can sign with someone next year.
But the 2nd 'later' problem was, no one wanted to offer him the money difference, and no one took him in...which is obvious, he burned his bridge and no one wants to touch him in this weird situation. If Lakers really wanted him, they would have easily paid off his contract difference(meaning Jazz would have paid what they offered him to leave early, and lakers or whoever would have paid him the difference for his full contract). But he wasn't even worth that...a discounted player..
3rd problem, if Lakers did want him, we could deny the previous offer. Cause we would hand our enemy a piece to fight us with, so even if Lakers did want him, we wouldn't have dealt him.
