Just from the 2011 second round draft :

Isaiah Thomas
Kyle Singler
Chandler Parsons
Lavoy Allen

That's from one year, not even a really good one.

Think about it, if we got Isaiah Thomas in 2011 instead of Norris Cole. Oh my. We drafted with the 31st pick, so there was a big big chance.

you would have your own version of J.J. Barea (not that he wouldn't be a significant upgrade from Cole/Chalmers).
A wing shooter like Sinler or L.Allen as Haslem's replacement while he's aging would be a better fit, and Parsons would be an amazing pick stating in Battier's/Haslem's place.

Just read an Ira Winderman 'Ask Ira', and he said regardless if the Sixers make the playoffs next year, we get their pick...

not correct

this is what was said

Q: Thinking ahead, with the 76ers not making the playoffs and Miami having the rights to that draft pick, at what position do you think they will make an upgrade? -- Mike, Belgium.

A: Actually, you have it backwards: A long as the 76ers are in the lottery, which is where they are headed, the Heat will have to wait on that pick, perhaps never getting a first-rounder out of last year's draft-night trade. They will get it the next season the 76ers make the playoffs, which could come down to what happens next with Andrew Bynum and his impending free agency. If Bynum bolts or is not retained, the 76ers have the look of a team with an extended lottery run, in which case the Heat may wind up with nothing more than second-round picks from the 76ers in 2015 and 2016. The way the trade was written, the Heat get the 76ers' pick the next time they are in the playoffs, through 2015. If the 76ers are in the lottery the next three drafts, the Heat instead get those two second-round picks.

so they need to make the playoffs one of the next three years for us to get a first rounder. They are not making it this year, so it needs to be done in 2014 or 2015. If not we only get two second rounders.

so yea, hopefully Philly gets the eighth seed a year and a month from today. That would be the best case scenario in next years seemingly deep draft.
