I would consider it, but I don't think Devos would be interested in having (3) players riding the bench on a losing team plus Arenas contract. That would be like paying $45 mil for players either barely or not playing.

I would do this deal, we move longterm money for an expiring and a lotto pick, we would be thin at the 2 spot but Roy is supposedly the consummate professional and would probably be very good in the locker room. And with the other pick we could get luck and maybe get Noel and one of the other sg projects.

I would do it because I would like to draft McLemore and Burke.

But, as a businessman, I would never pay $45 mil for (3) guys to ride the bench and be locker room guys. That is insane. No way Devos or any other NBA would do that.

I'm convinced that Vaughn isn't worried at all about winning these games. These games are like extra scrimmaging for the young guys and showcasing for the vets.

Since the trade deadline, I bet Coach thinks these games are getting in the way of some needed practice time.

tonight they are completing their 3rd back to back since the trade deadline (Feb.21). and 7th overall game. (12 days)

Fran Garcia (expiring) + Houston 2014 1st rounder to Orl

The money works.

Why for Houston? Adding an experienced, useful-for-contending piece in Davis. I personally think he could be great on that roster with good passing guards like Lin and Harden. Sets great screens, plays solid defense etc. After trading for Thomas Robinson they lack experience at the PF position. However, they'll likely try and sign Josh Smith as a FA, if they're unsuccessful though...

Why for Orl? Tanking move, and asset accumulation in a 1st rounder. It won't be an early 1st, given Houston's likely improvement next season, but 2014 is looking a deep talented draft.

Would Houston give up a 2014 1st for BBD though? What use is a young guy in 2014 to a team that's trying to contend?

EDIT: I get the feeling people are going to laugh me off for suggesting BBD is worth a 2014 1st rounder, but I think value is relative. He could be worth that to a contender, for whom a young rookie isn't as valuable. Plus, I rate BBD more than others do, especially when he's not given 15 shots per game.

- Also, do Houston have a 2014 1st? Or did that get shipped to OKC for Harden??

No 1 is giving up a 2014 1st round pick

Thanks for the incredible amount of insight you have given here. Really convincing argument

With this particular draft to potentially be so substantial and rewarding, should the Magic try to acquire unprotected draft picks for 2014? One source at this past trade deadline had said, “Teams are extremely reluctant to give up 2014 picks because of how impactful it may be.”

By the way, I call nonsense on the whole thing...and as much as I do not like LBJ, I hope I am right.

We'll know for sure if LBJ decides to take a few years off suddenly to pursue his lifelong dream of playing double-A baseball.

I found this to be very interesting interview. Ben Alamar, former analytics consultant for the Thunder, describes how the team nearly took Brook Lopez over Russell Westbrook — and how analytics pushed them toward Westbrook.

Given that our GM comes from the OKC organization, it might give some insight into how player analytics play a role in scouting, drafting, and other player acquisitions.

The part about Alamar talking about how they looked at data regarding Westbrook's time at PG at UCLA to gauge whether he could play PG in the NBA makes me believe a lot of Vaughn's weird rotations are really just for acquiring data for several scenarios.

In addition, the bit about their analysis of whether a PG or C is more important for a championship is interesting.

Dario Saric is in Croatia & Rudy Gobert France.

Both def have a future in the NBA & could both be lottery picks.

Hennigan should also stop to scout the Greek player.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

If he happens to find someone he wants though, it surely wouldnt be hard for him to acquire a 2nd round pick to accommodate it...
