If Kyrie Irving stays healthy, he's going to knock at one or two names off that list. Too nasty.

No way Clyde isn't on that list

Great player, but I don't know how he knocks off anybody on that list with 6 assists a game. Yeah he'd dominate John Stockton on a game of one-on-one, but as a point guard? Steve Nash is a better point guard than Clyde Frazier. Maybe not on these Lakers, though :)

Fair enough - maybe my childhood appreciation of the guy colors my perception. Airtight defender, absolute thief and his assist avg. likely doesn't' reflect his real passing talents, as everybody on the knicks passed the ball. One of the special ones, for sure.

You're probably right, but I'm a little biased against players of that era. Walt Frazier is one of the most accomplished players in the history of the game. But watching him play...I don't know. The game has changed a lot, and not in a way that makes me more appreciative of those players back then.

It's hard to compare eras. But watching guys like Nash and Stockton succeed despite their lack of athleticism and size...gives me far greater appreciation for their game. Neither are ballers, but both certainly defined the paradigm of point guards in their respective generations.

On a side note...I contend that Nash actually looks pretty good physically right now. For a 39 year old for sure. Amazing really. And the issue with him and being a point guard relates much more to the lack of a roll man then anything else. Nash is a pick and roll player as a pg and he has no one to "roll with". Yeah, he's not in his prime but he could still easily get 10 dimes a game if he had a big that rolled well and could catch a low pass.

I honestly think that if he has a successful 3 years in LA.. he's probably going to be considered 2nd best all time, just due to longevity and ability to play at a high level for so long, compared to Kidd who's been reduced to a Spot-up Shooter role.

If it weren't for Kobe and their ball-sharing, Nash would definitely have more assists. His motor is incredible.

In the crazy part of my brain, there's a voice that says "trade for Amar'e and Shumpert ... Knicks would still love to unload his deal.
But that would be ---- crazy

The game is tough for 40-year-old point guards. Unforgiving. Nash won't go down as the 2nd best point guard of time, sorry. Even if he does win a ring, I doubt it bumps him up on that list. If Nash wins, it'll be as a role player, not a floor leader.

Same reason why I doubt Kobe will chase rings when he's pushing 40. There's no upside. If he gets number 6 or 7 playing a beta role, nobody will give him credit for it.

Offensively, I would rank Nash second after Magic. Overall, I would say that he's in the top 5, ahead of contemporaries such as Kidd while near predecessors like Stockton and Isiah.
