Dwight Howard interview CBS LA

Post#1 » by mjba » Tue Mar 5, 2013 3:27 pm

wont embed, but everyone should watch this.

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/03/ ... co=cfd-1.0

my thoughts:
- barring something unforeseen, he'll resign here - if there was ever doubt about that (and i think there was)
- confirmation that dwight is not v smart. honestly pretty startling to hear some of his thought processes (coupled w the fact that he thought this interview may endear him to the fans). the last minute of part 2 is fork-in-key cringe-worthy
- he's genuinely seeks approval - particularly from kobe, but from the fans as well. as i have said previously in the game threads, i love the way steve nash handles dwight during the game.
- some of the questions were ridic.
*straight face* 'does kobe want to win more than you do?' how do burst out laughing at that? try asking russ westbrook that question. foh

personally, it looks like he's genuine, he cares and he's trying on the baskteball court. that's all we can ask - until he's 100% healthy (at which point i will create the 'trade dwight thread p.1' after 2 consecutive sub-par peformances)

The interviewer is dumb as a rock too... Hot... But dumb as a rock.

Everything she says is like fingernails on chalkboards which kind of carries over to what Dwight says. You're already cringing before he starts talking.

I think people try to hard to read into what he is thinking, feeling, and wanting.

I would bet he does not discuss any of this kind of stuff with "His Boys" i would hope he has learned his lesson that could cost him millions simply allowing the wrong message to get out.

There are lots of things he could or should not do to take some of the heat off of him but at the end of the day he kinda gets paid to deal with all of this crap.

My take is he is not paying my mortgage so i could care less one way or the other.

I felt all along Dwight wants to be here and will re-sign barring some sort of extremely unforseeable set of circumstances such as every fan in LA turning on him or something like that.

I do believe he's genuine in his own goofy way. He definitely wants to win and there's absolutely no doubt in my mind he'll play a lot better once he's 100% healthy. Unfortunately, we're not likely to see that Dwight until next year.

Many of you don't like Dwight for whatever reasons and that's fine but he's about as good as we're going to get under the circumstances. The new CBA is very restrictive making it nearly impossible for us to use our good Laker name to attract top of the top talent like LeBron or Durant. If we're to try to compete in the next few years we're going to have to do so with Dwight and whatever talent we can surround him with. And fwiw our team has the talent now to compete with any team in the league when healthy. If we're lacking one thing it's that young athletic speedster that can shore up our woeful perimeter D. We've been lacking that kind of player for years though and I don't see hat problem being fixed anytime soon.

Everything Dwight has ever said pubilically has been about he loves it here and wants to stay. That's good enough for me right now, so I spend much time thinking out it.

I have no problem with D12. Dude is just misunderstood sometimes. Would love to see him get more chips than LeBron. That would shut all the reporters and haters up.

I don't think he cares and that's what makes it hilarious.

We play in Orlando in 7 days, they better have security beefed up. Florida people are crazy enough to wear shorts and flip flops in 45 degree weather, they're more than capable of killing him.

Howard should pretend to have re aggrevated his shoulder before that game  he's going to get "killed" wouldn't surprise to see a few beers tossed at him and the team.

On another note, Laker's legend and future hall of famer turns 41 today. Who you ask?

He won't stay. His body language on the floor has stated otherwise.

Can't trust a single word that comes out of that mouth. It's in the history books.

I can only pray that somehow we do extend him - then trade him. Not worthy of purple and gold.

I dont know how LA handles former players, but Orlando wont do that. Boo him, yeah, throw stuff at him, no. We've moved on.

It's ok to smile but you need to be dunking on fools and smiling at the same time. Didn't see any dunks on perkins or ibaka.

This is why I miss Shaq. Shaq would destroy Ibaka and Perkins in his prime. He'd tear their arms off if they'd try to block him.

Dude will always throw everyone under the bus. He even started doing it here until he finally realized he'd be better off keeping his mouth shut. Also what trophy are they talking about? I didn't know lottery teams got trophies.

Here is a great summary by a Laker fan on LA Times.

Seriously, can we amnesty Dwight? Or trade him, or whatever?... I'd rather take my chances with some speedy no-names with some possible upside next year rather than THIS complete bust. No other way to describe it Dwight, and i'm sure you're a nice guy and all but what the F happend to you???? Worthless seems to be a pretty good description right now unfortunately.

yeah a lot of magic fans don't like him and many despise him as well. but hey, with each passing day it looks like magic fans and laker fans have something in common.
