When Flip sees the mess that was left for him (Jonny Flynn? Really?), I suspect we'll be able to hear the reaction from DC.

Must be great to collect millions from the Wiz while being a consultant to his hometown Timberwolves.

Did Flip suck? Or was he handed a steaming pile of crap from EG and expected to turn it into roses?

Considering the kind of success Flip had at every other stop in his coaching career, including the CBA and a junior college, I'm guessing the latter.

I have no idea how Flip will do as GM, but he can't be any worse than Kahn who certainly wasn't any worse than the guy he robbed blind before the '09 draft.

Flip sucked. The team wouldn't even compete for him. Randy at least got more consistent effort.

In hindsight both appear to be true. Think about the steaming pile that Ernie handed to Flip.

Arenas
Blatche
Young
McGee

These ^ guys are fine playing for competent organizations, but all-together playing under Ernie Grunfeld's management :noway:

That's not necessarily correct. Flip has a way of making sure Flip looks okay and every one else looks the bad guy.

Flip took KG past the first round only once in Minnesota, and that was because he also had Cassell and Sprewell. Every other time he lost in round one.

Flip came to Detroit and made the previous champion Pistons worse to the point that Rasheed Wallace, and Rip Hamilton stood up against him. Ben Wallace left the Pistons for the Bulls in part because he couldn't stand Flip Saunders.

He did not like coach Flip Saunders, not one bit. And the fury he felt toward his former coach after sitting out the final 12 minutes of Detroit's final playoff game last season stuck with him through June and into July -- a month that began with Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles ringing his doorbell on the afternoon of the July 1, coming into his home and making a three-hour pitch to Wallace and his then-pregnant wife, Chanda.

The worst ever? Well, the Pistons players tell the story of Rasheed Wallace calling Saunders the “worst [bleeping] coward I’ve ever seen” after a loss in the 2008 Eastern Conference playoffs. Everyone was there. Everyone heard it. And nothing. Saunders took it, and watched his credibility and command of that team die a little more.

Flip Saunders was TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, and any other descriptive word that says he SUCKED as a head coach.

He had players like Jamison, Butler, Miller, Foye, Boykins, Blatche, Young, and Flip consistently played stiffs like Thornton or Ross or Oberto. Flip LOVED Andray Blatche to the point of tolerating poor play from him and Butler but never holding them accountable.

The thing about Flip is every player suddenly became a knucklehead and things were everyone else's fault but Flip.

Saunders was beyond a bad coach. He was not a stand up guy. Saunders didn't impress me from day one. He left the Wizards with 26 and 23 wins and STILL has some of you saying it was EG's fault.

So, good coach or bad, does Leonsis really have to pay him even if he's the Wolves GM? How's that going to look when he takes EG's shirt at the poker table. I don't even want to imagine what deals are coming our way.

Well, maybe there are some players here that he's familiar with and liked that he might be interested in dealing for??

What did he think about guys like Singleton, Jan, Booker? Maybe we could have a trade partner out of this?
