Paul Bearer passes away

Post#1 » by smith2373 » Wed Mar 6, 2013 4:26 am

WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer. Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years.

Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans.

Wow R.I.P. Such sad news to end the day with :(

He used to scare me when I was a kid during the Attitude Era just by his face and eerie voice. One of the best Managers of all time.
RIP William

Sad to hear, he was a great fixture in the WWE. Should be a Hall of Famer.

Seems like there's not a bad word anyone can say about the guy. That's pretty rare in the wrestling business.

Should absolutely be a HOFer.

the 1st 2 live events i ever went to he was there. 1st was a house show in 99 i believe and he was accompanying the undertaker to the ring when he was champ vs stone cold. i didnt really know how house shows worked then so i got so excited when austin hit the stunner but then bearer pulled the ref out of the ring to prevent the title changing hands

next event was the 1st raw i ever attended, the main event was when the radicalz just debuted and it was like a 10 man tag match main event of benoit, malenko, saturn and xpac/hhh vs. the rock, cactus jack and too cool. anyways the match ends and everyones still fighting and suddenly the lights go out and you see Paul Bearer come into a spotlight just nodding up and down and then Kane's music starts up and he comes out and everyone goes apesh*t. so that was a pretty cool moment

sucks that he went, probably younger than id have guessed

RIP. I remember when Undertaker first showed up it was crazy and then when they used to have the Funeral Parlour episodes. Undertaker locking the Ultimate Warrior in and then his feud with Jake Roberts were classics of that era.

Paul Bearer was one of the greatest characters ever in professional wrestling. Seeing the Funeral Parlor skits back when I was a kid used to scare the hell out of me. I remember distinctly seeing the one below and crying my eyes out because I thought it was real (I was only 8 years old).

He was amazing at what he did. Definitely helped elevate Taker to the status he rose to during his early days.

RIP.

Thought it would be a good idea to show some pictures of him as other than Paul bearer. Here is what I found

More of an Undertaker moment, but it just shows how you can use an avenue like a Funeral Parlour or Piper's Pit to really develop a storyline.

R.I.P. Paul Bearer, one of the greatest managers in WWF/WWE history, his voice will always be remembered as one of the best voices in pro wrestling histories. He brought so many epic moments in my childhood. :(
