You realize using the amnesty won't give us cap space right ?

We'll still be way way over it.

Last night against the Thunder, every time we slowed the pace down, the offense became more effective, we turned the ball over less, and got back in the game (within 6-8 pts). When we went back to Dan Tony's style, we went down by 16.

WT: Phil Jackson mentoring Dwight Howard

Post#23 » by Brovva Blaqq » Wed Mar 6, 2013 3:26 pm

Phil Jackson has become a trusted mentor to Dwight Howard.

"Phil, he texts me and he understands how it is to come off back surgery," Howard said. "He just said it takes a full year to recover, so you can't beat yourself up over the things that have happened this year."

Jackson recently told Sports Illustrated that Mike D'Antoni's system doesn't suit Howard's talents.

"Dwight just doesn't get any touches," Jackson said. "They've basically eliminated his assets."

I have a wish list for next year. Actually the next two years. I doubt one thing on the list will see the light of day.

He played like kwame brown in the first half, i think it was 1for6 or 1for7, with multiple point blank airballs. Why should he have gotten more touches?

What I'd like to see us try no matter who the coach of the offense is, is to hybridize the Triangle into a double triangle or an "M" offense...
Send Dwight and Pau down low. (they need to both hustle in transition or one of them can trail and set mid court screens if that pulls his man out of the paint and lets the other player get better position)...
Then Nash sets up at the top of the 3pt line, Kobe's shaded down towards one corner and MWP is in the other...
Nash, Kobe and MWP would react to which of Dwight and Pau had the better matchup and set up so that Kobe and Nash formed a triangle on that side with them, and MWP was camped in the opposite corner.
Ball movement around the perimeter would break down the offense and get either Pau or Dwight open, or free up one of the other guys for an open shot.
But the key would be slowing the pace and working inside out. Plays could be built around scouting where the best matchups were... But the basic double tri or "M" could be used...

I think we still have the personnel to win it all if we can find a way to maximize the skills of the players we have.

if kobe is allowed to shoot 40 times in some games then why not dwight? completely going away from him or ignoring him doesn't solve the problem.

This coming out publicly will just put Mike in a more untenable position.

Is it out of the question for Dwight Howard to demand FO to hire Phil or maybe it is since its an automatic that Dwight will resign

I think the point was that Lakers can cut that $8 mil, which we're already paying tax on, and spend it better elsewhere. I believe there's one more season before the really heavy tax comes in - there ha to be some cushion of time for teams to deal with their payrolls before it took effect.

Kobe is shooting 50+ per-cent. Dwight is averaging 50 per-cent turnover rate, or so it looks.

I'd love the ball to get into DWights hand just not through isos. He just turnovers the ball way to much and he gets fouled where he goes 1/2.

The Lakers need to find Dwight on duck ins and flash post ups in the middle. He needs more touches, just no more isos where he gets of a terrible looking running hook.
