Peak wise, Kobe. Lebron is a better power dunker like Dominique. But Kobe was more flashy and had more different kinds of dunks in his arsenal.

in game, James is a better finisher for sure.

In terms of style, Kobe in his peak was way better. Never seen James do more than two diff dunks.

Lebron is a more effective dunker.

Kobe was a far more creative and aesthetically pleasing dunker.

Sort of like the difference in their games as a whole, but on a larger scale. People really underrate Kobe's dunking prowess both because we've seen his past-prime version for so long and because his athletic prime coincided with Vince's. But when he was young there was literally no dunk that he couldn't do. Baseline windmills, 360's off one leg or both legs, left handed or one footed windmills, reverse double clutch dunks, baseline cock the ball back tomahawks, through the legs, elbow in the rim, etc. You can find examples of Kobe doing every one of these dunks on youtube.

Lebron had a vicious tomahawk, that reverse two handed swing through thing, a windmill, a double clutch, and a between the legs and that's about it.

The biggest difference between their dunking styles is power vs creativity. You rarely see Lebron have great dunks off of two feet. They're all him exploding off that left foot and posterizing someone. Kobe could do a lesser version of that, but he was best at going off two feet and maneuvering in the air. The best example of this is his baseline, full extension windmill around two guys against Minnesota in 03.

Kobe easily, James dunks are all the same that's why he won't enter the dunk contest because he has no creativity or finesse.

Hmm... gotta say Kobe.

In his younger years he was a very creative and entertaining/flashy dunker.

Lebron is more of a power dunker and isn't nearly as creative.

Lebron might be more capable since he is more athletic and has bigger hands but Kobe is still the better dunker.

LeBron gets up there with his hops but as far as the types of dunks he throws down they aren't impressive at all

Kobe in his younger days had some amazing dunks and has postered just about every elite big man of this era.

If I want style, I would watch young Kobe

If I want power and explosiveness, I would watch Lebron

Kobe, not even close. Bron is a better finisher due to his size but its normally the same dunk. kobe adjust in midair to dunk on fools or uses a move to get to the dunk

Guess I'm in the minority, but I'm way more impressed by Lebron. The way he floats to the rim with power is unreal. And you guys don't think he's creative? What type of dunk has he not done in game? He's done 360, double pump, reverse, under the basket windmill, mindmill normal, double pump reverse, and many of these in the lane. He did a free throw dunk in game lol and you guys think Kobe is more impressive? Give me Lebron. Didn't he even do between the legs dunk in game? I know he did in high school. I think he did it in an all star game or something.

I've only seen him do one 360 and it was closer to a 180 (I know players rarely don't cheat on their 360's but honestly his was pretty weak and he's only done it once in a 10 year career.) Never seen him do an under the basket windmill. But every dunk you listed besides the FT dunk (which is really just his tomahawk from further out but whatever) Kobe has done several times.

Lebron has never done something like

or this

or this

Kobe also did an in between the legs dunk in a game

Lebron is a 1 footed dunker. Kobe can do either.

They have different body types and styles so it's really a personal choice who you like better. I prefer lebron because i like the power/elevation type dunkers. It's cool because he'll finish a dunk like kemp or amare would but he'll slash through defense more like a guard would.

If kobe was able to palm the basketball he'd arguably be higher on the dunkers list.

Kobe, just a much more creative dunker. He also has dunked on pretty much every elite big man in the league during his younger years, (Duncan, Yao, Dwight, etc). Not sure about KG, not sure if that baseline windmill counts

Style points easily go to Kobe, while Lebron easily gets the power points. Kobe doesn't really do too many flashy dunks anymore, which happens when players age and try to conserve energy.

I've just never found Lebron's dunks to be visually pleasing, for the most part. I mean, you can have power dunks and still make them look graceful, as we've seen with Dominique Wilkins. Lebron's dunks are just so damn...blah. Even when he tries to do a different dunk than that one-handed one he always does, it looks so plain, which is sad considering how Lebron is such a great athlete. He's like a more athletic Karl Malone, putting down big dunks, but nothing with that "Wow!" factor.

Kobe's EASILY the better dunker!

Outside of VC, MJ, and arguably Nique and Dr. J, Kobe's the best in game dunker of all time.

LeBron has the hops and power, but Kobe is far more creative and gives it all, as if he didn't mind dying in the attempt. I'm easily more impressed by Kobe.

Younger Lebron definitely had that 'Wow" factor in many of his dunks, he actually had hang time back then
