If Kabongo can pull out a win on the road by not TO'ing and getting an assist or shot to win....then I will gladly sign the petition for him in Utah..

Well for me there has never been any wavering... it's Marcus Smart... but he's gonna be long gone. Crazy ole draft net has him number 2 overall even.

I think it's funny that we all complain about Mo, but almost all of you want us to draft a combo guard ...

Smart is a team oriented high school combo guard who is being converted to a PG at his first year in college at the age of 18.
Mo is a 30 year old shoot first combo guard who is being converted to a PG....this season....?

Exactly. And I tend to think people call him a combo just for the fact that he's 6'4 225 pounds. He's been playing the 1 all year. I don't care how many positions he played in HS. Hell, I read CJ Miles had to play a little or the 4 and 5 in high school.

Smart played some 4 at high school as well. But I think it is fair to call him a combo guard until he proves to be different through his play consistently. Steph Curry was a SG until his last year in Davidson and only then his coach made him a PG, and he went into the NBA with a combo guard tag, and rightfully so. Since then he worked at it and can now be considered a PG. Smart himself said he is a combo guard in interviews in the past, so I can't fault anyone for calling him that. And after only a few months as at PG, it is fair to call him a combo still. It is up to him to evolve his game and shed that tag. Right now, as a PG he is a work in progress.

Yeah, I know all of that. You're exactly right. I'm just saying that sometimes players are just labled certain things based off of their height and weight. I remember when D-Will would always get frustrated at the beginning of his career, because people always labled him as extremely slow and unathletic. Although he was, and will never be a Rose/Westbrook type as far as athleticism goes, he wasn't anything near slow, and unathletic either.

Re: The Official Myck Kabongo Thread
true. on a slightly related note, it sucks that due to the insane athletic abilities of some of the PGs today, athletically ordinary and average PGs are being overlooked and graded down.
for example, Wesbrook and Rose are excellent players, all NBA caliber, but average PGs. you don't need your PG to be able to stay in the air long enough to read a book. you need him to be able to run your team's offense and get good quality looks for his teammates, make sure the team executes, and be an extension of the coach on the floor.

As long as we have a PG, who will foul when your up by 3pt's and the clock is hitting below 10 seconds left.
I want one of those hardworkers like CP3, but I want him to be a team player like Parker. I also don't want him to be plauged with injuries from working to hard trying to score 20+ every night. I am super surprised Westbrook hasn't had any injury yet.
I think Kabongo at #17 would be one hell of a steal. I think he is our best option, even over McCollum and Williams. I watch a lot of Michigan all, so I would want Burke as first choice, he seems NBA ready already.

Re: The Official Myck Kabongo Thread
kabongo's season is over, after a loss in the first round of the CBI.
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=330790248
that certainly won't help him, and would make his college career a huge disappointment if it ends with that.

His outside J troubles me a bit... think I've noted that before. The bubble prospects are mounting right now. If Myck is a guaranteed first expect him to come out. If not he should return.
Right I would have a hard time deciding between Kabongo & Wolters. It will take the NCAA tournament and predraft stuff to figure that out.

At this point, I'd probably go with BPA with our own pick, and Kabongo or Wolters with the GS pick. Unless we can realistically get a shot at Marcus Smart, I don't know if it's worth trading up for Burke or Carter-Williams.
