Morris, Sacre sent to D-League

Post#1 » by Slava » Thu Mar 7, 2013 9:44 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned Darius Morris and Robert Sacre to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers’ NBA Development League affiliate.

Morris (6-4, 190, Michigan) has played in 42 games this season for Los Angeles, averaging 4.4 points, 1.7 assists and 1.2 rebounds. On Dec. 16, he tallied 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field in a 111-98 win over the 76ers. He appeared in one game on assignment last season for the D-Fenders and scored 21 points in a 99-98 win over the Dakota Wizards.

Sacre (7-0, 260, Gonzaga) has appeared in 27 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 1.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 7.2 minutes. He has played in four games on assignment with the D-Fenders, averaging 11.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 31.0 minutes. He returned to the Lakers following a 22-point performance vs. Sioux Falls at the 2013 NBA D-League Showcase in Reno, Nev.

I hope this means Pau is close to coming back but yea while Sacre is no all-star he's still a 7ft big body that might be needed in case of those Howard's foul problem games.

Who's gonna cheer from the bench if Sacre isn't there?

It does seem like a bit of an odd move given the injuries to Pau and Jordan. Hope it means we're about to sign a free agent. Are there any free agents even worth signing? Lol

LOL

Delonte West?

I was hoping the lakers could've picked up Bill walker for the minimum this season !

Yi Jianlian SF/PF
Manny Harris SG
Tracy Mcgrady PG/SG/SF
Gilbert Arenas SG.PG
Allen Iverson SG/PG
Donte Greene SF
Ben Wallace C
Hassan Whiteside C
Shawne Williams - SF-PF
Shelden Williams- PF/C

Couldnt we have signed any of them for the minimum lol even a 10 day damn contraqct? wasn't it worth a try damn it.

Even with Pau we have an open roster spot (or is it 2?) so I don't see how this relates to Pau.

I just think they want to get those guys some burn... But why not send Ebanks down too?

And even if we pick up a player now, can they play in the playoffs?

They can but its tough to bring someone on board since we are not a lock to make the playoffs and any center/PF signing on would be looking for a playoff bonus, that he might get from a team like the Knicks or even Brooklyn.

I dont think Ebanks qualifies to be send down anymore.

I thought they changed that rule...

Anyway... FWIW... Pincus

The D-Fenders made a trade Monday to acquire center Jerome Jordan, sending Ronald Dupree and Orien Greene to the Reno Bighorns.

Jordan has legitimate NBA size, 7 feet and 253 pounds. Drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2010 (44th overall), Jordan found his way to the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, playing 21 games...

The Lakers have denied having a contract in place with Jordan, but the move by the D-Fenders suggests the team might have at least a cursory interest in the 26-year-old Jamaican center.

With 14 players on the roster, the Lakers have one spot available for a free agent. Pau Gasol is sidelined because of a foot injury (torn plantar fascia) but Coach Mike D'Antoni has turned to a smaller lineup when starter Dwight Howard goes to the bench, using Metta World Peace, Earl Clark and Antawn Jamison...

Bringing up a guy like this might make more sense because I doubt we're going to want to commit past 2014 to anyone.

^^ yeah I'm guessing we would not be sending Sacre away unless his dead weight was replaced on the end of the bench for emergencies.

If we pick somebody up they can't play in the playoffs. March 1 was the deadline for free agents to still be eligible to play in the playoffs with whatever team they decide to sign with.
