Am I crazy or does he have a pretty low release point on his jumper?

totally agree but it works, i'm surprised he doesn't get blocked more often

Yeah I think it is one of the reasons he steps back and fades-away a lot leading to bad attempts. You can tell with his shot release it is hard for him to work in the mid-range when defenders are prepared for him.

Yeah, his step back is very effective at preventing blocks and it always seems to make the defender surprised a bit with how quick he can step back and take the shot.

but the thing is it makes it a more inefficient shot as well as he usually fades away as well to avoid the defender. He will only learn though.

Well most don't come into the NBA with an elite shooting stroke, that is developed over time I think his numbers are very respectable for a rookie talking 3P% and FG%.

Like he is comparable to Steve Nash who is considered by most to be an elite shooter.

Steve Nash (Rookie Year)
FG%: .423
3P%: .418

Damian Lillard (Rookie Year)
FG%: .423
3P%: .350

Chris Paul might be a better comparison since Nash was not a goto player in his rookie year.

Chris Paul (Rookie Year)
FG%: .430
3P%: .282

So yeah his numbers are very respectable for having teams work hard to shut him down. His shot looks good to me from what I have seen one of the purest strokes for a rookie around.

It's a bit low, but it's also pretty quick.

It's low and awkward looking, but he utilizes it well and is great at stepbacks/fading.

cuts, drives, post ups, put backs, fast breaks, etc. The only thing his game is missing is a jumper, and he's been hitting that recently too

He really does have as versatile a game as I've ever seen from any (underclassman) prospect, if he does everything at above average except for his j, then does it really matter if he doesn't have it down pat as the youngest player in the league?

A complete shame that his jumper is 3 years away or so from being slightly above average. In every other facet of the game he is fantastic. Teams can play 10 feet off of him waiting for him to drive because he cant shoot. An off season will do him wonders.

Lillard went off from 3 minutes left in the 3rd onwards. Had 10 pts with 3 minutes remaining in the third Q and finished the game with 35 pts after being subbed out with 2 minutes remaining in game.

35pts 9 assists 3 rebs 2 steals.

12/20 FG
ZERO Turnovers.

Lillard's release on him jumper reminds me a lot of Durant's. A bit low, but very methodical and deceptively quick.

He's taking it to the Spurs right now.

16 points in 4 minutes..... absolutely insane.

Lillard will end the night with 35pts (12-20fg / 3-4 3pt), 9asts, 0tos, 3 rebs and 2 steals.

Blazers beat the Spurs by 30 points on the Spurs court.

As impressive is his 5 games in a row of 20+ points, I think it is over at this point no other player can take RoY from him now.
