1.) we drafted leshoure who it seems is a little to early to give up on
2.) Apparently of the 2 , Lions are higher on Bell
3.) if we bring in blount, one of the other 2 gtg, and we used a 5th round pick on a position in which we didn't necessarily need to change

Gross. Blount doesn't fit at all and can't hold on to the ball. This would be terrible

Tim Twentyman thinks if the Lions truly want him that bad, that they can find a way to make it work capwise.

So if we have the money that he wants, it may just come down to what team he wants to play for. I personally don't see how you pass up a chance to play opposite Megatron in his prime, if you're a RB. Its like a guard getting to play with Shaq in his prime. All the attention of the defense goes to Calvin, and Bush will have running lanes for days.

The only reason he would want to go to AZ is if they offered him a bunch more money or a huge role. Why else would he go there?

I continue to think Bush could be the missing link for our offense, but it has to be for a reasonable price. Should be interesting.

I am worried about what Mayhew and Co are doing this offseason.

1) We are linked to Reggie Bush and LaGarret Blount
2) Our first players in for closer examinations draft-wise are both WRs

First off, I'm not crazy about spending a large chunk of what little cap space we have on Bush, and Blount just doesn't make sense or fit with what we need.

Secondly, it seems like we're gearing to take a WR in round 2.

Either they are REALLY high on Green, Bentley, and/or Greenwood, or we have a couple other moves up our sleeves (hoping).

i think the fact the lions are closer to a title contender than AZ might tip the scales, also AZ got Fitzgerald, who's not CJ but definitely a close number 2

i'm not entirely worried about the screening processes they are going through, the scouting personnel they recently hired has a very good history of drafting talent. Additionally its still the beginning, it literally can be jsut a scheduling issue. My concern is more so for addressing our areas of need and what exactly the FO's thinks that is.

Too me , last year it was our secondary and Staffords inconsistency. i don't get the whole we need more offensive weapons for Stafford theory. He has CJ, decent 2-3 WR's , 2 good TE and 2 decent RB's. You put peyton manning at center with those players, gurantee he'd make it work. i would like to see the FO have a lot more confidence in the QB's ability and address our other glaring weaknesses.

My thoughts from yesterday:
http://www.detroitlionsdraft.com/2013/0 ... e-thecalm/

From what I heard last night Bush is asking for too much $$, not as likely to happen as I hoped.

I'm hearing that Bush prefers AZ over us as he has more of an opportunity to start there.

Not entirely worried about it, RB are a huge risk, especially older ones and ones with injury histroy. i'm glad to see the FO maintain cap space.

Josh cribbs of Browns is available. He's a WR /ST. i would love to take a crack at him

Lions interested in DL Jason Jones: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/20 ... ing_i.html

Lions heavily pursuing DE William Hayes: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/20 ... ing_i.html

Neither are game changers but both are solid football players. Wouldn't mind either at all -- at the right price.

All I know is if the Lions don't get Bush because they've promised the starting job to Leshoure or Bell instead, I'm all done with this team.

We don't have anybody on this roster as good as Bush, therefore there should be no reason he isn't promised the starting job.

he's older RB, he has a history of injuries, he'll also be a return man, we drafted leshoure. i'm of the opinion that Reggie Bush will add another dimension but he's not going to turn this team into contenders, especially when the amount of cap space he takes up causes us to add mediocre players at other areas of need.

Detroit among the teams looking at DL in free agency - ex Seahawk/Titian Jason Jones appears to be at the top of their target list

Also Bouldin was traded for a 6th round pick , which seems like we could have afforded that, but i think the cap hit would have been too large.

D'angelo hall also released, of the 2 vets i would rather go after Reed

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Four teams - SF, PHIL, DET, TB - in play on Dashon Goldson - but DET, TB considered favorites. TB also in on CBs Sean Smith, B. Grimes, DRC.

There's gotta be an extension in place with Stafford, right? Linked to Dashon Goldson (favorite to land him at that), heavy buzz about Glover Quin and of course Reggie Bush; all top tier guys at their position in this FA class.

I don't think they Lions are trying to sign all of them. They probably want to come away from the free agency with just one of Bush, Goldson, and Quin.

extend Stafford and restructure Suh's HUGE cap hit.....wonder if we could go after BOTH Goldson and Quin?
