Re: Michael Carter-Williams
I don't think he has anywhere near the strength and toughness that Roy had. Evan Turner would be an extremely generous and overly optimistic comp, imo.

I don't see how anyone can see him as a shooting guard. His greatest strength is his court vision and passing.

He's too turnover prone to be a primary handler or starting PG.

This. Plus he lacks the quickness to blow by most point guards. To me MCW's best role in the NBA is as a SG paired with a scoring point guard. Detroit would be a good landing spot with Brandon Knight or possibly Charlotte and Kemba Walker.

Not true at all. He has a very good first step.

For a SG, I agree. But, when he is matched up with quicker guards, he spends half the shot clock changing directions (which he is very good at) and trying to dribble his way into the paint. He has to work very hard against quicker guards to get by them.

Have not seen that in my time watching him this year. He usually struggles against the help.

The second time they played louisville he got by smith pretty easily throughout the game and he's a very quick defensive gaurd

I'm very impressed with MCW in this seton hall game. He would fit nice next to a good shooting/scoring pg IMO. Maybe in golden state or Portland or Detroit?? I question his d like I do all cuse players but his handle and passing is very unique for a guy his size. His finishing is iffy and his jump shot is streaky but I like his open court game with his quickness an athleticism. Pretty intriguing if he finds a good fit somewhere

Horribly unfair to group Livingston in with the other two. Livingston was on his way to being a great NBA player before he got hurt. And maybe I'm underrating Gaines and Garcia, but I don't think they really compare to MCW as a potential prospect goes.

Actually, Gaines was very similar in terms of style and draft stock. Garcia, not so much.

Re: Michael Carter-Williams
Another nice game for MCW. 11 points, 7 assists (though he got shorted at least two of them), 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 6 turnovers (at least a couple of them were just his teammates failing to catch the ball though). Scored the final 7 points of the game for Syracuse and had another game-sealing steal like he had against Louisville before.

Re: Michael Carter-Williams
At this point, watching more of his games isnt going to do a lot. We know what his strengths are and what his weaknesses are. He does a very good job of finding the open guy or creating for others. He struggles with an inconsistent shot, needs to improve his finishing in the paint with contact, and doesn't have a great handle for a PG prospect. He seems to rebound well for a guard, probably a result of his height/length over other PGs. We wont really know how good his man D is just because its covered up in the 2-3. He seems to have quick hands and good instincts, but it can be hard to tell until it is actually seen.

Mcw played a pretty good game against Louisville tonight but kind of melted under pressure after a historic Syracuse collapse. Ive gotta say the officiating was HORRIBLE. I thought you couldnt put 2 hands on the ballhandler? Unreal how much Louisville does this and gets away with it. Am I just being a Cuse fan or did other people see it this way also? It seems most of the turnovers cuse had during the collapse should have been fouls.

I'm not really a fan of MCW's game. He's very erratic.

Watching the game live in person (and being in the Syracuse student section), it seemed like the refs just handed Louisville the game, but after rewatching it when I got home, it really wasn't that bad at all. There was really only like 4 calls/non-calls that I thought were pretty bad (the awful flagrant call, no-call when Smith slid under Xmas and they just let it go, no-call on one of MCW's turnovers where he lost the handle a little bit and then Hancock just plowed through him to knock him to the ground, and the second time that Hancock drew a foul on the 3 was complete BS). Not nearly as bad as it seemed in person.
And if Syracuse had knocked down their free throws, it likely would have at least been a close game. Such a shame that MCW went so cold at the free throw line, because other than that, he played a great game. Still probably wouldn't have been enough to hold on, but at least he wouldn't have fed the Cuse fans that hate him more ammo. He had a fantastic first half, and in the second half, still made enough great passes and handled the ball well enough that if not for the free throw shooting, he likely would have made the All-Tournament team (and Triche making it over him is an absolute joke anyways).
All in all, MCW did a lot of great things tonight. If not for his free throw shooting, he easily would have been the player of the game on Cuse's end. Don't really see how anyone could say that this game showed what they don't like about him/made him look worse unless they place that much of an impact on him having an awful day at the line (after shooting over 87% the past 12 games).

Re: Michael Carter-Williams
I don't like him at all as an NBA prospect
He's got good size for the point, and can pass the ball well. Don't see him becoming anything special at the next level.

Re: Michael Carter-Williams
I dont understand how people can look at last nights game and say he played bad or showed hes not a good prospect. First of all he had to be gassed, he played at least 37 minutes the last three days and then had to deal with that Louisville pressure. Second, he dominated Siva and Smith in that first half and showed great ball handling ability and made some great shots. Third, he didnt really have much help bringing the ball up as Triche was a complete mess with 9 turnovers. And forth, when your tired being mugged by the other team and not getting any calls doesnt help. I think hes going to have a big tournament not having to deal with the awful big east officiating.
