Where looking at #14ish right now with Lakers beating Bulls. With all East Coast playoff teams ahead of us and Raptors way far back! We could get #15 if we get in playoffs, and like last year in 8th we could get #18 if the east cost does any worst. Right now Warriors are at #18 under ATL's .548 but above Rockets .531. So were lucky east is doing good, if Rockets or Lakers step up, GSW might be up to #16(Lakers face Rockets once more, and Warriors twice more).

So I would say it is a fair assumption that worst case scenario with our 1st(or even second pick) we could get Kabongo or our choice of anyone not 1-4. Best case scenario we get our choice of MCW, McCollum and Burke(this is with out doing any deals, just a guy for our positional pick).

I would like to figure out what to do with our GSW pick and 2nd round pick, along with who we want with our First. I updated the chart that was previously made by Montoya to give us an idea of who is likely to want a PG. Getting ahead of Bucks and Hawks was a big deal, that could be the difference we need.

Just a FWIW- Sacramento added Toney Douglas and subtracted Aaron Brooks.

We all know the Jazz need a point guard. The whole league knows the Jazz need a point guard. I think Marcus Smart will be off the board when Orlando picks. I think Dallas will also take a point guard. Phoenix could take a surprise flyer on a point guard (being as they have the two picks). Sacramento is a wild card because right now you have buffoons running the zoo and who knows what they'll do.

I count at least two and as many as four point guards off the board by the time the Jazz pick (assuming the Jazz are picking at 14). I'm on my knees each night praying for a solid PG to be there. :pray:

My current preferences are based on the fact that I think McCollum could be good in the NBA but he'd need to become a better passer to fit in with what the Jazz do offensively.

1. Smart
2. Burke
3. MCW
4. McCollum
5. Canaan
6. Kabongo

Your list is what every one thinks, but mock drafts is what people want you to think..I didn't put an actual order but the least likely last position they would be, but of course they could all be top 10.

Smart = Best SG/PG option

Burke = Best PG/SG option

MCW = Best PG option

McCollum, Canaan and Kabongo = best 2nd choice PG options

I looked at Pistons, I think they are also unknown. Both PG's are not signed on next year and even though they got the pretty good Calderon, even if they sign him, they might want a new young PG to rotate with him even if they lack in other positions.

I think its a safe bet that Orlando goes for Smart, their back court is whack. I think Kings don't need another young PG, they already got a bunch and have more dire needs to build around Cousins. Dallas have Collison and Mayo, but they are both not signed on next year, so even if they sign both of them, they could still want a PG to rotate in with even though they still lack a great Center to play with Dirk and Marion, there backcourt is probably a bigger issue.

Getting ahead of Hawks, Bucks and Celtics is a big deal, if they all chose PG's we would be left with nothing. All three are playoff teams, but they are still building.

There is a lot more Big Guys in this draft, I actually want to get someone like Plumlee or Olynnk with our picks to replace Millsap for our 3 man rotation with Kanter and Favors for when the Jazz are in the "future"(if that ever really happens, cause I think all our guys are past being for the 'future" and are here for the now.)

For 2nd round, I think getting someone like Pressey, Wolters, Kabongo, Canaan, Brown, Green or Curry would be a nice steal for back up PG, if they are still available. I just don't think there is a lot of "want" for PG's once you get past the 20th group. So I see plenty of great PG's to be found in 2nd round, which is probably what we will do and drop Watson.

There is not such a thing as what "we fans want in the draft," since the are so many divided opininions. And even if there were, I'm not sure that would be a good thing. I was part of the 2% that cheered at the Delta Center when the Jazz took Gordon Hayward.

I think that it is great for you to start breaking it down, but in reviewing your analysis it doesn't seem that you even individually know who you want in the draft. No offense. Just sayin.

I'll take anyone who is most likely to be an all-star. If you draft a great player, they can almost always be traded for a great PG.

Well I was going for finding what guys each of us would like to get.

Lately I was rooting for Burke but I am still not 100% sure he will be best for us. At this point I think anyone would be better than what we got. Jazz act like they some master plan, but what kind of plan is having every starter of contract this off-season.....the only kind of plan that is, is if you plan on having all your young guys take over. I mean why would we bring in 5 new FA's to take over the position, or keep the current FA's.

In a world where Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter start, I would like to get a nice draft pick the make this group even more awesome. So I don't think a draft PG is going to come in and take over. So our two picks are going to be two new young guys to fill in our bench and rotation. I would like one to PG, to go with a FA PG, and the 2nd to be a PF type.

A bit of tunnel vision here but overall a good thread. Especially with 2 first and a 2nd I think you can focus on more than just PGs. I think Carter Williams is a candidate to fall in this draft out of the lottery.

Let's say Marcus Smart is off the board and Otto Porter falls to the Jazz pick (not likely but crazy things do happen). You certainly don't draft Burke or MCW over Otto Porter. In that situation you take the best available talent.

Because there are other ways to plug in your PG spot that includes names like Milos Teodosic or Bobby Brown from overseas to go along with whoever you draft. I would highly advise taking an all of the above approach with a 3 point guard plan (which makes a lot more sense to me than ponying up to Jennings who wont want to be in a small market anyways). So you draft a PG, sign an overseas prospect (like Teodosic who is 25), and on top of that you bring a vet back like Tinsley. I would absolutely hedge with my PG options for next year. Let them fight for it in the preseason.

That & I don't really see Nedovic as a PG. Seth Curry really?

What happened to names like Leo Westermann, Dennis Schoeder, & Ray McCallum... guys I'd rank higher for sure.

I was thinking the same thing...what if we could get some new bad ass PF or SF, maybe someone like Porter, would we go for him or a 5th option at PG like Curry or Wolters?!?

I hoenstly think we need FA PG for our needs, a draft PG would only be for bench, look at POR they got Lillard at PG yet they kind of suck this season(even if its not Lillards Fault). Had we got Lillard, do we hoenstly think he would have gotten starter position over Mo??
