Prediction Post

I predicted 3 or less turnovers from him last game. He ended with 2. Next game I expect 5-7 and at least 15-17 shot attempts of which he will make maybe 6-7. 5-6 FTAs. 8-9 assists So he will get his 17-19 or so pts. But it won't be efficient.

Actual Stats
7-15 FG, 5-5 FT, 7 AST, 6 TOs, 19 pts

Wall started 5-5 so he went 2-10 after that.

Man, Wall was hitting that outside shoot there for second. All from the same spot. Didn't see that coming. But who really thought that would last. Some nice defensive plays by him as though. I did expect something closer to 6-15 FGs. But 6 TOs. Not good John.

MN put a JV line up out there. That was pure suck the way the played and Randy didn't help at all. JJ and Ricky were jumping the lanes and just to quick for Wall with Webster at SG.

Finally Randy figured out to use Wall with Price. Then he forgot that worked. lol. Kevin was a nice move for a game like that. Randy is not a very good game time coach when he has to adjust on the fly.

Give that line up at the end, I know they last turnover was going to happen. Of course it was going to. It was the same line up MN had traded and burned the previous 15 plays. Why would you expect anything different?

Put down tape, 18 ft radius from the rim. Play 3 on 3 half-court and tell wall that he's not allowed to shoot inside of that mini-arc. Every turnover is -$100 dollars. Every assist is +$25. Wall can only pick teammates out of Seraphin, Vesely, or Singleton. Have at it.

I stick to really small bars to increase my odds. It's all about strategy. Wall would be all-world in rec league.

Wall has the "too lazy to shave" beard going.
He also has the "too lazy to practice" jump shot going.

He led them to a loss, getting nuked by Deron while shooting 6-19.

Yes. He lead them in scoring, though he had twice as many shot attempts compared to any other teammate. 16 points on 19 shots (32%). With Beal out and his team shooting poorly he apparently chose to take over and showed why "pass first" is his preferred plan. The bright side is that he only had 1 turnover.

The entire team played like garbage, Wall included. Burn the tape and move on from this one.

I know the stats are starting to weigh against him, but I still think Wall will get to that elite level that he is supposed to. All he needs to do is get that jumper up to something respectable, and that is not all that far-fetched for a 22 year old.

I think management will give him every benefit of the doubt and be very generous when it comes time to talk contract. I would be shocked if they give up on him the way some people on this board are starting to do.

Ernie is dumb enough to give Wall a contract he hasn't come close to earning. He isn't going anywhere.

Wall is going to be fine. And we're 100% building around him, he's not going anywhere, the fan base might as well get used to that.

Wall will make incremental improvement every year for the next several years and the team will settle into the conference pecking order as a mid to late seed that gets bounced every year until the next period of rebuilding takes place. LeBron and KD will split almost every championship for the next several years except for maybe the one ring that Dwight and/or Rose or CP3 or Melo get in the year where everything breaks perfectly for their team. After LeBron and Durant finally get old and the window passes, Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Davis will start winning a bunch of rings. There's really not a whole lot the rest of the league can do about this. The greatest players hog all of the rings, the level of parity is a joke, building a true contender involves little more than stumbling onto the next future HoFer and all time great player.

Which makes no sense why to try to go for a playoff spot right now. Tank till ey get a HOFer is best right now. No point other wise. Beal can't do this alone. Well maybe he can, but I am not talking about that right now...

Feel free to let me know when that "incremental improvement" starts, ok? As to "several years" guys pretty much peak at 24-5 (at least that's a statistical truth -- there are exceptions). I'd say he has 3 more years to get better. So far he seems content to waste those years.

I remember his rookie year, Ted wrote on his blog that John had "a drive to be great." Look that way to you?

Ted writes some interesting stuff on his blog, but not about basketball. Everything he writes about basketball reduces to "look, my mouth is running."

There's a lot too that last point. But I don't agree w/ "involves little more...."

It's true that you have to have a truly dominant player these days, because the players have so much power that the dominant ones will wind up on a team that's anyway pretty good and propel them to a ring. And getting that dominant guy first requires luck ("stumbling on..." him).

But, you need to build the rest of the team. Orlando, w/ an inept GM, wasted Dwight Howard's time there. Houston, on the other hand, because of what Morey's already built by being smarter than his peers, is in a position to attract Howard.

I do believe that John's shooting stroke is improving. And have thought that pretty much since he returned in January. (I know, I know the stats say otherwise.)

An offseason of more hard work on Wall's part, and the guidance of a good shooting coach, and I think his shooting will continue to improve. A lot of the ability to shoot well has to do with confidence---and regular practice.

About a week ago someone mentioned that Wall seems to shoot the 3 better when he shoots it almost as a set shot rather than a jump shot, which is how he shot the 3 his rookie season. I've noticed that as well.

Kyrie is likely out tomorrow. I was really looking forward to the matchup tomorrow. John has played well in his two games versus Kyrie and it would have been interesting to see how aggressively he would have gone after him considering the hype Kyrie has been getting.

Don't mean to sound rude but picking apart his jump shot is a lazy analysis with the other glaring holes in his game.

Right now I couldn't give two ****s about his jump shot. There is just no rhythm or flow to his game. I'm more worried that he CHOOSES to take that jump shot, over his inability to hit it. His isolation move is so predictable; Crossover to pull up jumper. He needs to be more aware of the defense and make that move to burn defenders for going under the pick..Instead it's like he starts isolating and just decides "it's time for me to put up a shot". Like many, I'm not ready to give up on him, but I'm worried.
