To be honest, I don't even look at MJ or guys like Bill, Wilt etc, as players. They are icons. There will never be another one of those guys, because the situation will never be the same. Kobe is honestly the closest player style/resume wise to MJ, although as great as he is he will always be in MJ's shadow, more so than LBJ imo.
MJ isn't perfect (see Bobcats) but he picked the guy who most resembles himself. Which is Kobe. LBJ is great, but the argument for 5 vs 1 ring wise is probably deeper than he just has more jewelry. He looks at him as a proven winner, even if the stats and help he got don't always support the reputation(although similar things could be said about MJ).
Anyways, let MJ have his opinions. He thought Kwame was a winner too. LBJ only has one crowd to please, that's the Heat fans, and I think for us right now he is the GOAT.

Nobody knows or an guess what or how Jordan would have played against prime Kobe, Shaq, Dwight, Dirk, Yao, Lebron competition. Cannot take away how amazing Jordan was in his time agaist those other guys but this isnt his time and those guys are not this times competition. Time to capsule Jordan. Let Lebron has his moment and when Lebron retires then revisit the arguments and comparisons.
One thing we can all agree on is, when LBJ hangs it up there will still be people who question him quitting, or quit trying in the playoffs. Brian Windhorst couldn't explain what happened back then and it still has never been explained.
You''ll never hear that about MJ.
MJ > LBJ.
Also,
6 ships on your team > 1 and counting somewhere else.
Jordan literally quit on his stacked team twice.
Also following your logic 11 rings and never quitting on your team (Russell) > 6 rings and quitting on your team twice.

all i want to say is mj set the standards. Plus imo mj played in a tougher era. Lbj imo struggles against bigs and theres like no hof bigs in this league (in there prime) except howard i gusse but people say he would get owned by the 90s bigs. Sooooo yup. Pretty much what i think. And i dont want to hear how defense evolved now cuz i heard that arguement so many times and i can just show u the bad boy pistons clip. plus if u were to say that argument. Tell me some best defensive players/teams this season.

You can show one team from that entire era, and one who didn't have quite the athletes you have today. The defenses are much more sophisticated, and the guys defending are more athletic. If you don't want to believe that, then you can feel satisfied in believing guys have gotten worse in a modern sport. In other words, basketball has devolved. Yeah...tinfoil hat your flatearth birther movement. PEACE.

What standard?
And tougher in what way?
How does Lebron struggle against bigs?
Defenses have gotten a lot better. Jordan's best scoring seasons were in the 80s. You named one good defensive team but ignored the multiple teams that gave up more than 115 ppg. Soooo yup

Aside from the fact that this is a terrible post, deprived of substance, I will agree that Michael Jordan has set certain standards for today's superstars.

How about this.
You could not breathe near Jordan without being called for a foul. Defense or not it did not matter. Also Lebron gets pounded without many calls TODAY.
Jordan also play in a watered down league with all the expansions etc.
But still, Lebron has quite a ways to be Jordan like GOAT.

Again teams he was playing against were averaging 115 ppg allowed. It was literally much easier to score then. Its not even an argument.

In Jordan's age you could A) not play zone and B) that made it possible for an offense to exclusively use just a handful of offensive players. In fact, if you took a step to double a player and didn't go all the way to them it was a tech for illegal D. It led to an absurd number of Iso's and PnRs. Now ISOs are by far the least effective plays in the NBA.
If you look at the scoring leaders in Jordan's age there were anywhere from 29-36 20ppg players each year. Now there are 11. Defenses are allowed to take the ball from the oppositions best player(s).
The Spurs and Boston literally used 4 defenders to slow LeBron. Jordan was able to play in an age where that was no where near possible. I am in no way saying LBJ > MJ. I am saying it was a different age and MJ never would have gone for 37+ in todays NBA, especially against the likes of Boston at their pinnacle.
