Think about in five years at the end of his contract, is he going to get 11 million dollars when he becomes a free agent again at the age of 32? That's why you take the 11 million now then get the near max 5 year deal next season.

No smart GM would give him Ellis a 5 year deal let alone a max deal

Sorry, I meant four year deal I forgot the new CBA shaved a year off contracts with new teams. But yea four year deal starting in the ballpark of 13 million isn't out of the realm of possibility. Considering there are alot of stupid GM's out there.

On a side note, it's kind funny how we were all clamoring for him this time last year as a possible franchise savior.

I just want to point out that I was always against getting Ellis, at least for the price Warriors was asking. I remember one poster who had a real hard on for him, wanting to trade Dwight for Ellis and build around him.. forgot who.

I guess you wouldn't have drafted Irving then...

I guess you didn't bother to read my response to this question before.

You're right, I may have passed on Irving, but there's a huge difference between Irving (obvious and consensus number one) versus taking a chance on Noel, who is among six or eight players all bunched together in a relatively weak draft. There is no obvious stand out, so the comparison is a poor one.

^^^^ :-o

Holy crap, between this and Kyrie breaking his ankles, Brandon Knight should just retire....TONIGHT. I'm afraid he may have just had his "Nick Anderson missing four straight free throws moment". He's never gonna be the same player ever again.

I would be good with getting Rondo for the TPE. I know it is only a matter of time before we find out how it will be used. I would seriously doubt it expires but Rondo works for me.

Anyone think we could possibly use it to get Bosh? Would he be good next to Vucevic?

Are you guys serious? Rondo? Bosh?

Rondo and Bosh would be enough to make this team a contender. Bosh gets knocked but he hits some huge shots in the playoffs.

Rondo and Vuc would be nasty together. Not sure Vuc is good enough defensivley to ever take us to a Ship tho..

Whatin the hell makes you guys think Miami and/or Boston is just going to GIVE YOU Chris Bosh or Rajon Rondo? To use the TPE as a salary dump? Are you guys serious?

rondo has more value that a pick swap in a weak draft.

Ok. If you all think Rondo and Bosh are out of the question, then who are some realistic (but good) options for the TPE?

They are FAR out of question. I am still in shock you guys think that there would even be a remote possibility of that.

The best players you could get (that we would be willing to take on salary wise) would likely be guys like Monta Ellis, Danny Granger, Shawn Marion and Emeka Okafor types. Most 1st rounders would be protected except one coming from desperate teams like Dallas, Brooklyn etc.

MIL Monta Ellis 11.0 mill (if he opts in)
DAL Shawn Marion 9.3mill (1st rounder)
BKN Kris Humphries 12mil (add Marshon Brooks or a pick).
BOS Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett (very small possibilty)
CHA Ben Gordon 13.2mil + (a '14,'15 or '16 Bobcats pick or MAYBE Biyombo added if they are souring on him?)
IND Danny Granger 14.02mill (and Orlando Johnson thrown in or we MIIIIGHT be able to get a heavy protected pick)
GSW Richard Jefferson 11.0mill or Andris Beindrins 9.0mill (a 1st rounder)
LAC Caron Butler 8.0mill (1st rounder)
MIN Brandon Roy 5.3mill (first rounder)
SAC John Salmons 7.58mill (first round)
WAS Emeka Okafor 14.5mill (first rounder)
WAS Trrevor Ariza 7.7mill (first rounder)
