The idea that Lee and Klay are garbage is beyond me. I believe they have value that is greater than what is being floated around on here.

I also question the idea that a back court of Klay and Curry won't work, if we don't find a trade that works. I have a feeling that West might put up a fight.

I'm all for improving this team and trading anyone if it improves the teams. Substituting one misfit for another one doesn't make sense to me.

Also Lee and Barnes for Gasol is awful awful awful. Giving up young talent and Lee for an old, progressively more injury prone Gasol with an even bigger contract. We are going nowhere without a defensive interior presence, and we're mortgaging our future and cap for a win now move without win now pieces. Awful.

If I'm trading Lee I want to address what he lacks and what the warriors need: premier interior defense with some semblance of offense, preferably younger than Lee. At the very least I want someone who can do 90% of what Lee does now at a more favorable contract. There aren't many of these guys. I don't want older/more injury prone players with bigger contracts based on reputation and rose tinted glasses.

I wouldn't categorize pau as injury prone. Pau addresses exactly what you state. He may not be a premier interior defender, but he does protect the paint adequately led his team to 3 final appearances, and has offense. He's a bit older than I would like granted, but you're not getting some young stud for lee. But you should be able to trade gasol later in his career as long as he's still playing well. Garnett almost brought back bledsoe and deandre at age 36 which is 4 years older than gasol and he started 2 years earlier.

Curry/Klay/Jefferson/Gasol/Bogut. Gasol can even fill in at center, which is probably his best position now when bogut is out. Our frontline would turn into a strength. Yea the frontline is old, but it's already old as lee is about to turn 30 compared to gasol who is 32. I'm not as high on Barnes as everyone else seems to be either. Hell we could probably turn around Klay and jefferson/Beans for someone nice as well maybe batum.

Curry/x/Batum/Gasol/Bogut. That's kind of a stretch but just saying there's options.

I think you're way overvaluing Gasol (and other aging players). Lee is 3/4 years younger than Gasol with a playstyle that ages well while Gasol is *already* on the decline. A player of Gasol's supposed caliber doesn't just stop performing because of chemistry issues, and the Lakers' defense was with (and without) him. Not worth it, and definitely not worth banking on Klay as our only hope for the future.

Furthermore Gasol's trade value is low since he wants out and has been underperforming. We shouldn't have to give up Barnes to make the Lakers better. They should be giving us something at this point.

Gasol is also not the defensive center that I meant. At least not that Gasol.

Klay and trash for Batum I'd do in a heartbeat. But that's as unbalanced a trade as Lee/Barnes for Gasol in the other direction.

The only person i brought up was gasol, in an actual trade idea. You have to look into context with Gasol, he didn't go from a 17 ppg player, best center in the olympics (summertime), to scrub like he was playing like w the lakers w/o context. They forced gasol to be strictly a perimeter jump shooter, to open space for dwight, who was coming off injury. When Dwight went out and Gasol was playing alone at the center spot, the lakers play picked up as did Gasol's. Yea Gasol's trade value is at a low point right now, but i'd highly doubt they trade gasol for lee straight up. Plus Gasol's game is much more likely to decline less than david lee's who is only 2-3 years younger.

KG. Only he'd never approve the trade (he has a no-trade clause). But that's my dream offseason trade. Last year of KG in exchange for final 3 years of Lee.

Yea that would have been great this year. KG and Bogut would have been a joy to watch defensively.

Not many teams win with an offensive 4 unless they're lebron or 7'. Dirk, KG, Duncan are all 7' and not traditional pfs.

I don't disagree. Which is why I'm asking why we want to trade Lee for the Boozers, Amares, and Paus of the league and throw in Barnes for the privilege.

I want a premier defensive C back. I want to fix our problems rather than exacerbate it with guys who do less, are older, are more injury prone, and on bigger contracts-- sometimes all four.

Sure...it was opne thing to be all groupie over Laker players when they were a top dog and we were trying to just be over .500. Now? Now the year left on Pau's $19 mill deal (plus trade kicker) ...is something thet's been up for grabs and nobody else is grabbing. I could care less about Pau's former good days...year Lee has been MUCH better,is cheaper, younger, and Lee has been a good "team guy" while Pau is again a whiner. Toss is Barnes? Seriously?

No...we also won't dump Lee for the twilight year of KG. That's basically no more than another weak salary dump deal...when there's nothing to count on as a follow up. GSW happens to be over .500 and should be in the playoffs. Bogut has only shown some flash of what we expect, while Lee has been our reliable guy up front.
GSW FINALLY...has some core that works. WTF? Why on earth blow it up to get some guy who'd be just a rental and has no long term future here...while may not be even a temporary upgrade?

Pau is an upgrade to Lee and is only 2-3 years older than Lee. Pau is one of the best 2-way bigs in the league and can even play center on most nights.

KG would have been more so for a run this year, granted that we don't have a great shot because curry and klay are so young. But a KG Bogut frontcourt would get us to the 2nd round. The only team I'd be worried about is okc.

these trade ideas are moot anyway. You can't prove someone would do better in another place without it actually happening.

Seriously? The Lakers have been wanting to get ANYTHING for Pau and they have had virtually nobody that even wants to pay him $20 mill next year. We'd need to "toss in" another $6-7 mill in salary....so who is that?
If Pau can't "adapt" to playing PF with Dwight F'n Howard....why can he do it with Bogut? Is it just me or wasn't Pau injured a lot? How many games would we get where all of Pau,Bogut,Curry are 100% ?

Anyone who's seen a few decades of the NBA KNOWS that in NBA years...33 is a lot older than 30. I've seen quite a few cases where a guy who was hot stuff at 28....is nothing special by the time he's 32....33. Just looking at GSW....Richard Jefferson 5 yr ago was a pretty good NBA starter.

All reports have said lakers weren't trying to trade anyone on their team this year. So Where do you get that they wanted anything for pau? Their crack headed fans?

Landry.

They can't do it because they don't have the outside shooting we have. Kobe isn't going to stand in a corner. That and all antoni wants to do is pnr and go small instead of pound smaller teams inside.

Pau doesn't get injured very often. Curry really has only had 1 year of where he's been injured. Bogut is a concern, but pau would be his insurance since he can actually play center.

33 is older than 30. But his length and height won't diminish. Whereas Lee's hustle will. RJ is a swingman, wings aren't really noted for lasting long, exception being kobe and nash. And once again this past summer 2012, Pau was the best center in the olympics.

Well...it's hard to say any guy we got or might get will help us win,if looked at as just one or two guys but not in context. I'd always like to trade 3 quarters for a dollar but as we know from real deals or trade board ideas...it ain't that simple. You have to have a good fit. You need to look at the age factor,at injury risks. Contracts? HUGE factor since we have other good size contracts,we do not want to overpay to get an overpaid guy.
We don't want to flip Lee and Klay to get a one and done rental. We don't want to get stuck with a bunch of baggage fillers.
We might end up losing Landry, jack and Rush. We likely are stuck with Biedrins + R Jeff and have zero draft pick. so far our 3 rookies are interesting but inconsistant. We might be able to get some FA with MLE but will not want to go into the lux Tax. We're not real sure what to expect from Bogut...who's not signed for long. Basically...Curry,Lee and Klay are the core we can build on.ears past we were often quick to deal away any "core" as soon as it had begun to look like a core...so every year we'd be trying to start over toward turning individuals into a real team. If Barnes evolves ass expected and Rush returns,is healthy...we have a good trio to fill the SG/SF.

We MIGHT get a SWEET offer for ANY guy...too good to pass up. We will as usual, also get offers that might seem good at first but have big negatives if you really look.

If we can unload Lee. I'd like us to bring in someone like Davis a big body PF. Doesn't have a monster contract. But I like how he plays.

I think we have a lot of opportunities to make a solid trade this summer. We have three large expirings and some solid assets. We also get to trade our first round pick if needed.

There are going to be teams who weren't able to dump cap at the deadline, that will want to shed some cap money to get under the luxury tax.

I hope there isn't a single player who is deemed as being off limits in a trade.

The key thing a trade has to be made this summer. Players going into their last season have some restrictions. So I expect some changes this summer.

The only Gasol trade we should consider is lee/rj for Gasol/mwp. We get a motivated Gasol in a contract year and a defensive wing in mwp. This will also give us great flexibility heading into 13-14 season.

I think it is possible to trade another pick after this year's draft is done and Utah is paid off.

What I never understood about the Williams deal is that he was never the type of player Nelson would play, even if he had lived up to expectations.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Would love to get Amir Johnson in a Landry S&T. Also would like AK47 or Ed Davis if they are available.

I think that a player who opts out can't be used in a sign-and-trade. And likewise, I think that if he opts in, he can't be included in a trade for at least 3 months after opting in. So I don't think we really could include Landry in a trade during summer.

Ed Davis would be an awesome pick-up, but Memphis is savvy and won't let him go cheap.
