Percy Harvin getting traded to Seattle

Post#1 » by Higga » Mon Mar 11, 2013 5:35 pm

Hearing about it now on the radio. Being confirmed by Jay Glazer and Adam Schefter. Seahawks giving up at least a 1st.

As a fan of a rival NFC team, I'm not liking this. Harvin is a beast, and a trio of him with Wilson and Lynch is going to be nasty, especially with that D. Seahawks could be the favorite to win the NFC now.

He just moved from one NFC playoff team to another, you make it seem like he's changing conferences.

I also just said this in the Wheelings/Dealings thread...

I've been reading it's pending a new contract and the Vikes get Seattle's first rounder. I wonder if this might be in a step for the Vikes to package picks and move up, though I have no clue for who.

I kinda like the deal for Seattle in that they get a 24-year old for a first pick in a draft without many great playmakers, but I don't know if a huge contract will be worth the shot.

Smart move by Seattle.

Not so smart by Minnesota. I'm sure he asked for a trade though.

They let Sidney Rice walk right after he was coming off a career season (I believe), and now this. It's a shame really, I'm not sure how they expect Ponder to succeed when he cant develop any sort of repertoire with his top flight wideout.

Peterson better be ready for an even heavier workload next year. Vikes will finish dead last in the division.

Isnt this a steep price to pay? I thought maybe a 3rd round pick would be okay

i thought it seemed like a lot as well

i'm not entirely sure how i feel about this but i suppose the good news is that the vikings have to address the wr spot now (since there is like no one there anymore)

The Vikings went 5-2 last season without Harvin but that was with AP rushing for a buck fifty every week. I don't know if that's repeatable. I'm hoping the Vikings will go after a big FA receiver to replace him.

You can't win with **** at reciever. The vikings were a solid #2 reciever away from being a solid team.. now they're completely one dimensional and gonna be useless.

Seattle is going to be loaded on both sides of the ball next year.

But really, how is Ponder going to develop at all without any WRs? He was bad enough last season WITH Harvin...

Obviously the Vikings are going to add a receiver or two, free agency hasn't even started yet.

Seattle overpaid(picks and money) but he is a dangerous weapon when healthy. LaCanfora tweeted earlier that he'll likely be the highest paid WR in the NFL after this deal gets completed.

I think Minnesota would be wise to move up for Patterson, who is widely regarded as the best WR in the draft.

There might have been competition by other teams trying to trade for Harvin, so let's not be too quick to blame the Seahawks for giving up a first round pick. After all, I've seen teams give up multiple first round picks for less.

Seems like a good move for both teams. Minnesota pretty much had to deal Harvin at this point (or continue dealing with whatever issues he was causing for them, which they clearly didn't want to deal with) so they got great value with getting a first and seventh this year and a third round pick next year.
Seattle needed a legit playmaker at wide receiver to help their offense.

Considering how everyone knew that the Vikings needed to part ways with Harvin, it's amazing that the Vikings were able to get a first round pick.

Need to see what they get in FA's. Still plenty of time to get something good.

This is a big gamble for Seattle.

If it pays off, they're going to get a young, top-flight playmaker for a late 1st round pick, which is a steal. His cap hit is going to be a big problem though. They can afford it now because they have a huge amount of talent on rookie deals, but when those guys come up for extensions in a year or two they could end up in cap hell very quickly.

I didn't consider the Vikings a real threat in the NFC. The Seahawks definitely are, even more so now with Harvin.

Seattle won this deal. They understand its a RIGHT NOW deal. All chips are pushed across the table. They significantly upgraded moreso than the 9ers have . . . SO FAR. In other words, the 49ers could use those picks for more things to come. But as of right now, Percy Harvin is a win/win and follows Pete/Seattle front offices gameplan. You have to take a gamble to bring the championship RIGHT NOW. And thus far, for example russell wilson, all of their gambles/ maneuvers have paid off.

Harvin had success with Tebow at Florida. RW3 is like Tebow stylewise, except RW3 has elite speed and can actually throw the ball lol.

Nah, Russell can do more then tuck the ball and bash his head into the nearest defender
