Do you have any idea what $arver and the Suns reputation has become around the league?? We have become the laughing stock of the league, no big name free agent wants to play for $arver, period. Eric Gordon was an enigma, he knew he would be matched regardless and just used us as leverage to recieve his max contract. If you honestly believe we have a shot at any of the big name free agents coming up then I have no clue what to say anymore. And if you don't believe me about our reputation, look at the lockout saga, $arver was the most vocal critic against the player's rights and told them TO THEIR FACES that he only cares about profits. He didn't say that word for word to them, but he did tell them "I have not made what I expected in return for my investment." That obviously told the players he doesn't give two **** about winning and just wants to make profits and the top players around the league called him out for it. And if you don't believe players talk to eachother about this kind of stuff then that is absurd. You need to read between the lines better my friend because it seems to me like you believe everything that $arver, Blanks and Blabby blabber about to the media to pretend like they have a plan. If the Suns sign a big-name free agent with $arver at the helm within the next 5 years then I will personally mail you $200 and eat my crow. You can quote me on that and if I don't come thru RealGM can ban me forever. I am a man of my word. I just know that we have no hope at big-name free agents because of $arver's rep and so the only hope we have is to build through the draft. And by big-name free-agent I am not talking about cap killers like Rudy Gay, I am talking about players like CP3, Lebron, Kyrie, Westbrook, etc. So quote this post and come back to me because I am 100% confident in my basketball knowledge
And as for MVSteve, there are quite a few teams that would have given us a better haul than the criminal fLakers two years ago. Toronto for example, he is a Canadian hero and even though they weren't contending, they would give us AT LEAST a few good picks for him. They gave up a LOTTERY PICK for KYLE LOWRY for Christ's sake!!! Also many contending teams would give us a better haul than the fLakers for a chance at a championship. Yes Nash is old, but two years ago, when they should have traded him, we could have pulled a very nice haul for him. We screwed ourselves by waiting that extra year to trade him and trading him to the damn fLakers was the most corrupt and bs move I have ever witnessed in SPORTS HISTORY!!! Trade our two-time MVP to the state's biggest rival??? Ask the Yankees if they would ever trade Derek Jeter to Boston or if LA would ever trade Kobe to us. That crap just doesn't happen in sports and leave it to $arver to buck that trend. I honestly don't know why there is so much optimism for the Suns FO from some people, it honestly makes no sense to me and leaves me speechless. I respect your opinion though and everyone has different views, I just honestly don't see where you get that optimism from given $arver's atrocious track record
I'll admit Howard and Paul aren't going to happen. However, I was trying to make the point that NBA teams do have a huge turn arounds. The link I gave you showed that losers can go to contenders in one year. Just used poor examples with Howard/Paul. Suns were one of those given in the link. Who in their right minds would have thought swapping Nash and Marbury would have turned us into instant contenders??
Again Babby/Blanks trading Nash to the Lakers was no different than Colangelo trading Connie Hawkins to the Lakers or Paul Westphal to Sonics. Both teams were hated by the fans and rivals at the time. Both players were loved by the fans. JC made those trade anyways. All RIng of Honor guys traded to the enemy.
Also remember. It was Nash who asked the front office for the trade to the Lakers. The front office didn't want to make that trade but then looked at what they were losing. Nash for nothing or Nash for picks. Seems like a good choice to me.
I guess optimism is just my nature and in that case we are polar opposites. Based on your comments, you see Dragic as the only valuable piece on the Suns. Everyone else is steaming dogshat ... paraphrasing your words. The front office has no redeeming qualities ... corrupt, goons, etc, etc, etc. Hunter has been coaching for 1.5 months and he's useless already because he can't coach offense. Unfortunately my guess is Sarver is here to stay for another 10-15 years. That's a lot of hopelessness to live with.
