1. It would be the greatest comeback in professional sports history...considering the coach changes, injuries, drama, and passing of the greatest owner jerry buss.
2. Depending on seeding Lakers could have the record for lowest seeded team to win a championship. I believe currently it was the rockets at 6th seed who were able to win it all.
3. Kobe would tie Jordan in rings, assumingly would get his 3rd finals mvp without shaq, and would win a championship at 34 years of age in an era of a prime Lebron with a young super team... and a Durant/westbrook okc team at their peak. An argument that could elevate Kobe above Jordan, and forever cement Lebron below Kobe.
4. Dwight would win his 1st ring...and do it in his 1st year as a Laker, probably cementing his decision to stay a Laker for life. Fans would be onboard with Dwight and on his side as he eventually takes over the Lakers as Kobe retires.
5. Nash would get his 1st ring and he would do it as a critical piece and starter on a championship team at 39 years of age. Adding one ring to his two mvp titles may very well cement him as #2 all time PG behind Magic.
6. Lakers would tie Boston with 17 championships..this would mean kobe could break that tie next season....and the start of kobe's last dynasty..
7. Coach Dantoni redeems himself for the New York flop and proves he is a great coach...getting revenge on melo.
So as you can see a ring this year would be an incredible feat in sports history elevating players careers, coaches, and the franchise.

1.
2. A third of a season left and they're already in the playoff picture. Maybe if the playoffs started today, which they don't.
3. Jordan: not likely. LeBron: good God he's just getting started, who knows.
4. I'll give you that. Probably true. Fans will turn on whoever they chose whenever, however.
5. Not likely.
6. Kobe is not immortal, but a last run would be sweet. Tying Boston would be sweet too.
7. And Pau would go down as the greatest Laker PF ever. This argument works in a lot of ways.
8. I'm stoked too, let's not get too ahead of ourselves.
I. No explanation?
2. Actually they are out of the playoff picture again
3. Likely because jordan never faced any teams like okc and miami. He did face the lakers but key players were way past their prime(magic, kareem).
4. Give me all.
5. Likely...look at the top pg list....john stockton never won a ring or mvp. Payton never won a ring or mvp. Etc. Etc. It will be hard to put any guard above Nash except for Magic considering Nash will have 2 mvps and a ring to go with it.
6. It will not be sweet...it will be epic. Remember buss wanted to have more championships than Boston. Tying boston the same year buss passes would be symbolic.
7. Pau would go down as the best backup C all time....
8. It is a what if scenario...a possible what if scenario...so the whole point is to get ahead 9f ourselves.
