How would you grade this season?

It isn't over, but we're hitting the back end of it by now. Not really sure. I'd go with B, we didn't trade Josh wish was a let down but Horford has made improvements, as has Teague. Lou tearing his ACL was horrible but we did okay without him.

C+ our best stretch and signature wins came early in the season. Since, we've beat up on lesser teams with occasional, egregious losses to CLE, PHX & WAS.

Horford has been a highlight in his comeback season.

Lou was fun to wath.

Teague has had moments.

L Drew has improved.

But we're not bad enough to get a lottery pick. NOT good enough to contend. Just floating along in another mediocre year.

Jamal...soooo...if we were to, say have one fewer loss we would be a "top team in the east", right? Our losing lately has been on A: A looooong road trip were we lost to some of the hottest teams in the league (Denver is at 9 straight, the Lakers are hot, Boston has won 6-7 I think, even the Suns were coming off a big win over San Antonio and riding high)

We are 2 games out of 4th(my third place prediction is still within reach as I think New York is going to struggle a bit going forward) in a year we lost our big offseason acquisition, and were projected to maybe not make the playoffs. This was deemed a holdover your at until the big free offseason. We have a lame duck coach and 10 plus free agents and are TWO games out of home court advantage in the East.

That re is no way to call that a "average" season. Great job all around. Sure there are changes people would have liked to see,but we have more cap space, a comparible record and honestly, if we can avoid the, can make the ECF.

Solid B plus that could be an A by year end from me.

Um...what? We're 1.5 games from the 8th seed. Have losing records against the top teams. (13-20 in those games)

We're not a contender, and if we played in the WC would be on the verge of missing the playoffs. Only us Hawks fans would consider this satisfactory.

It's a rebuilding year. But also a forgettable one.

Please explain to me how you can call the Nets one of the top teams in the East when we are one game back in the loss column to them, yet call this a unsatisfactory year. You margin of error is ONE FREAKING GAME?

I don't base our success on the Brooklyn Nets.
They're not even in our division.
They haven't had a winning record in 5 years.

We are the 7th seed, and are in peril of falling to the 8th seed by Wednesday.

We have a losing record against winning teams.

We set franchise scoring lows in a nationally televised game this year.

We had 0 All Stars selected.

We have no shot at winning a dision, Conf Title or NBA Championship this year. We are irrelevant yet again. We are closer to the bottom than the top.

That gets a C in my book.

The Nets are one game from the #2 seed. We're 2 games frm the 8th seed.

And I'm entitled to my opinion...I think.

You are. I guess I am asking too much when I point out the inconsistency. You on one hand still call the nets one of the top teams, who you thought would be much better than the Hawks mind you.

The teams are playing neck and neck and yet you call one team one of the disappointment. You do understand how that makes little sense. The nets are 2 games in the loss column out of 8th. One of the best. Hawks are 1 game out of the loss column from the 8th spot...disappointment.

I guess if you thought the Hawks would better than the Nets (which I do/did) you could come to that conclusion, but otherwise it just seriously doesn't make sense.

Most people, leagues, organizations assign standings based (primarily) on wins, not losses.

The Nets, based on health, trajectory, are probably now favorites to win their division. They, by every standard, are a top 4 team in the Conference.

Even the NBA officially lists them as multiple games ahead of us. They also have won 2 straight against us.

By any metric, they are among the top teams in their conference.

By any metric, we are a middle of the pack team.

I don't grade on a curve on this one.

By Thursday, it might be a C-.

Looks like the boys over at CBS Sports are at a C also:

Atlanta Hawks

Grade: C

The Hawks just sort of coasted in the third quarter, which is disappointing to a degree. The rest of the East disintegrated outside of the top teams and Brooklyn, and they could have put separation between themselves and the rest of the pack. Instead, they just went all "Hawks-y," and now they're in the No. 7 seed, looking like they could face Indiana in NBATV's annual "playoff series no one is watching." Such a "meh" quarter for a team that too often falls into "meh" mode.

The CBS report is for the 3rd quarter only. I would venture to guess that the Hawks received an A or B+ at the lowest for the 1st quarter and probably a B for the 2nd quarter.

The 3rd quarter has easily been the worst quarter of the year with Lou out and Zaza missing a long string of games along with Ivan.
