Here's what I know:
The Lions are targeting Glover Quin hard, more priority than Bush or anyone else that wasn't a Lion last year. They can get him with the current available cap room but he would take it all, and he has other suitors (notably PHI & TB) with a lot more cap room. Fallback plan is Laron Landry. Ewww....

Chris Houston is the top priority of keepers, and I do expect him to return whether Quin comes or not.

The Lions are indeed one of the teams talking to the Jets about Revis, though I have no idea how seriously they are involved or what would be offered. My guess for the offer? 2nd round pick each in 13 and 14, plus one of last year's rookie CBs.

Any Stafford extension holds the key to the spending.

From what I heard last night I do not expect Delmas to be back or Reggie Bush to be a Lion. Bush will be in Arizona. I can't guarantee that but the guy I heard that from is almost never wrong about the Cardinals.

Here's what I think:
Lions fans are in for a disappointing couple of days. Houston should be back, maybe LS Don Muhlbach and that's about it.

Mike Goodson or Larod Stephens Howling are much more likely than Reggie Bush. I prefer Goodson, though LSH has ability as a return man.

Avril goes to Cleveland for 3 yrs/$28M and that's the best offer he gets, which is less than he turned down last summer. The Lions are at 4 yrs/$32.5M from what I gather, with the knowledge he won't take it.
Cherilus ends up in Dallas for less than he thinks
Delmas will be on the market past this week
Will Heller goes to Chicago
Drew Stanton goes to Arizona, unless OAK cuts Carson Palmer and he goes there. At that point, Stanton would go to OAK and likely be the nominal starter until they draft Geno Smith. Poor guy cannot catch a break.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Quin/Houston would be a good start.

Trade the picks and Bently or Green to the Jets for Revis.

Take DE Ansah #5.

rest of draft = depth in secondary, speed RB, big WR, and basically depth everywhere else.

Appearantly, we're bringing in RB Reggie Bush and DE Jason Jones for visits ASAP to try and get them signed. Not thrilled, but oh well....

and saw this:

RT @ttwentyman: Spievey has signed a 1-year deal to remain with the Lions. This is separate from the RFA tender he was available to receive

Per Mike Garafolo:

Giants WR Domenik Hixon received an offer from the Lions but has tabled it for now. Looking for a better opportunity.

I'm fine with a lot of current Lions leaving. If we only keep Houston, the long snapper and maybe a few others I can't think of...i'd be fine. You shouldn't keep a lot of free agents from a 4-12 season.

Time for Fox or Reiff to start, so no biggee. Nice player, but not great

Not too thrilled about going after revis, he's had a lot of injuries lately and seems like a lot to give up for a player that could be gone next year.

i was hoping to hear Goodson or Quin will be signed, however looks like the cap hit is too much.

I wasn't entirely thrilled at the Speivy signing(which is ironic as all media had him out of detroit), but if he can stay healthy, him and our 2nd rounder would provide a nice set of safeties.

i hope we can retain houston

Willie Young also resigned, which i'm pretty happy about.

Bush is going to AZ, really no clue why Lions are wasting there time

Quin and Bush are taking visits now. I think we get both.

impossible........i think Bush is looking at about 6-8 and Quin would like 7-8. we currently have 5-6mil. even if they restructure Stafford and Suh's. i don't think we'll have enough to sign both let a lone retain houston. i hope we get quin. if not, i wonder if Reed is in our price range

Say what? 6-8 mill for Bush? There is NO team that would give him that. Not even close. 7-8 million would put Quin as one of the highest paid safeties in the league, he ain't getting that. Probably a bit south of William Moore's contract.

Cap space is easy to create in the NFL. Dave Birkett has hammered this all off season yet people still won't listen.

Anyone interested in going after Heyward-Bey as a cheap guy to put opposite CJ?

I say we make Quin, Houston, and Heyward-Bey as our priorities

Levy's money finally leaked out. 3 years, 9.75 million max, 3 million signing bonus. Not sure if this was good value, seems a wee bit high to me, but could be totally wrong

DHB provides a pure speed threat opposite, so I'd be interested for the right price, sure. Not a real great WR though.

The corner market continuing to be saturated gives me hope of getting Houston for a bargain, and I pray we can snag a good Safety (which we are dying for)

sorry Bush is seeking 5mil, a raise from his 4.5 in miami. and Quin's looking for about the same. Moore got 5years 30 mil. Quin isn't too far behind that. again we have about 5-6 mil in cap space, and we still have to resign houston highly unlikely we sign both bush and quin. i hope its quin

Heyward is pure speed, not much else. if he's coming to detroit its for ST. rather just draft another WR in the late rounds. If staffords on, all that should matter is that the receiver can hold onto the ball.

Thats what I like about DHB.

Have to respect CJ's speed on one side.
Have to respect DHB's speed on the other side.
Stafford has plenty of arm to go deep if either gets single-coverage on the outside.

Allows Burleson, Pettigrew, and Broyles to work the middle of the field.

Return to Detroit Lions
