Its hard for me to compare beating someone in basketball and beating them in a combat sport though. You can permanently damage someone in an mma fight. I just could never consider doing that to my brother.

Which is pro life? I'd love for Dawkins to go on Rogan's podcast. Hate how all the science people Rogan has on are quacks or conspiracy nutjobs, the exception being the great Neil Degrasse-Tyson of course.

After some more reading, he's not necessarily pro-life, Rogan.

Could you consider fighting a training partner?

I honestly just feel that its too hard to answer that question, having never trained mma.

I know I respect guys that will, and I know it annoys me when guys won't, but I don't want to just blindly say I would since I've never been in that situation. That would be easy for me to say sitting on the **** sidelines, lol.

I'd think of it this way... if you're looking to make a career doing this, you need to step on some toes. You need to fight the best and you should fight the best. In the corporate world, if we're ladder climbing, we often end up crushing those we admire and respect to get what we want. Within the context of "work", I don't see much of a difference between punching a competitor, sibling or close friend included, and politicking to limit the opportunities of others. If you want to reach the top, that's what you have to do. I guess it takes a certain personality to think that way and maybe martial arts doesn't foster it...

I've briefly talked about this before, but it just depends on the situation. I think its complete and utter bs, for example, for Cain to say he won't fight Cormier. By saying that, he is literally limiting the potential of Cormier's career and his earning potential to support his family. I think that is extremely, extremely presumptuous and wrong. But when it comes to other situations, there are just too many guys to fight for me to think its a big deal. Does anyone REALLY care that we never got to see Fitch vs Kos? I know I couldn't possibly care less.

As for the brothers thing, there are literally a thousands other guys these guys could have fought. They are on the undercard of a regional show. This is a gimmick. And it could be a normal fight with a quick sub or something, or else is could be a thing where they take it easy on each other in which case they never should have fought, or alternatively, one could get seriously and/or permanently injured. Good luck facing your family for the rest of your life after that, all for the $600-$800 dollars they made fighting on an MFC prelim.

Totally agree with this. No need to fight your brother when you're a regional heavyweight and it does seem gimmicky and cockfightingy.

Then again we are talking about them, so maybe this is what they want (although I don't know their names and don't care to learn them).

I just could never try to hurt a family member. But then again, I'm an office worker / fantasy reader / forum poster / bjj white belt....and not an mma fighting alpha predator. lol

He had the awful fight, IIRC, with Nelson that he might have actually won.

He fought Nelson on the show, and Madsen on the finale. The Madsen fight was split decision for Madsen. Don't recall the Nelson fight.

Madsen. Another guy who just kept winning fights but was cut at the first chance after he lost by a cut. WWE.

That was the first WTF cut that I can remember. Dana punished the guy for not having a Duffee body and/or being better than fighters who are more imposing. Meanwhile, Thiago Silva can piss hot however many times he wants because he looks like he just got done throwing a grenade into a favela.

He had 4-5 wins in a row in an insanely horrible hw division and never got off facebook iirc.

When I went to grad school in Minnesota, he'd always come into the same bar I went to watch fights. Big, ultra scary dude, was rocking a badass beard at that time too. He was with deathclutch before they disbanded. Also would come in, and leave after the hw fights, e.g. he'd come in and watch Nelson/Cro Cop but leave before Diaz/Penn main event. Wouldn't be surprised if he and Roy were friends still.

And yea, good point about Thiago 'this piss isn't human' Silva. I wonder what the story behind that one is lmao. Sounds so rudimentary.

Hmmm. He hasn't fought in two years, since his release. Maybe it was a mutual thing.

Cool beans (RZ). I knew they were coming in August, but not that it would be a PPV.

So they're staging a PPV in Milwaukee on August 31st, and the headliner of the previous PPV in that same month is by far Milwaukee's biggest draw, Anthony Pettis. That makes sense, UFC. It makes about as much sense as Dana continuing to state he's never seen Bellator. He said it again today. But let him also make it clear he thinks Ben Askren is the most boring fighter in the sport. :)

If you give a listen, let me know. Cos I can't imagine why he'd be of interest. Can't be worse than Thomson.
