Stafford has plenty of arm to go deep if either gets single-coverage on the outside.

Allows Burleson, Pettigrew, and Broyles to work the middle of the field.

honestly stafford sux at being accurate far down field. but i get what your saying. wouldn't it just make more sense to draft a WR in the 5th round in this deep draft with some speed?

Yeah, I get what you're saying too. If we can find a late round sleeper capable of being a guy that will keep opposing defenses honest, then that would probably be the better route. I just worry that we won't find anything like that in the 4th-6th rounds. And I see DHB as a guy with potential that we could get for cheap.

Our Current Situation:

BUSH
If we sign Bush, what happens with Bell and Leshoure? We drafted Leshoure, lions are still high on him, however they were higher on bell last season and he's a FA. If we do sign Bush, who are we not signing with that money.

Quinn
IF we sign Quinn, does that mean we scrap Delmas? our other starting S hasn't seen the field in a while, and Signing delmas means we can use our 2nd pick for another DE?, OL? WR? . i literally get chills if we have Houston, Delmas, Quinn, and Bentley. Keep in mind Quinn used to be a CB

Draft
Ansah,Millner, or Jones?

Ansah i think this is the safeest pick, all the news and reports i've read on him have made me a believer.

Millner i would love this player, i think he is going to surprise a lot of ppl with his play., i think he's highly underrated, but if we resign Houston. Drafting him would make the bentley, green, greenwood picks look idiotic. Only way we draft him is to replace Houston

Jones, he's looking more and more like a player thats going to be around at the 5th pick. Talent is out the roof, he's the game changer we are looking for on the Defensive side of the ball. i like that he can play a little bit of linebacker just because it adds another dimension we could possible use him. This scares me as i also need to learn from the Best, Young red flags that we ignored in previous years.

Thought
We sign Delmas, and let houston walk, we draft Millner with the 5th pick, and use our 2nd pick on OL or WR. We immediately add high quality talent at both sides of the ball. We use the 3rd pick to draft a DE and 4th with a WR/Return man. If we are really this high on Suh and Fairley, time they prove it. It shouldn't matter who's the DE, a 3rd round pick should be able impact the game with those 2 DT's by his side. not to mention this draft is deep with both WR and DE.

At this point, I'd be happy just locking up Quin and Houston. I'd rather have them than oft-injured Delmas eating into our cap.

Use the draft to fill the rest of the holes:

1- DE Ansah (replace Avril?) or CB Milliner (start opposite Houston)
2 - WR Patterson (if he falls) or best available S
3-7 -- whatever we didn't draft above and overall quality depth guys

Found this quite interesting on twitter, per Shefter:

Adam Schefter‏@AdamSchefter

Lions would like to swoop in and sign all three FA visitors today: RB Reggie Bush, S Glover Quin, DE Jason Jones. Lions team to watch today.

Only way I can see us doing this is if Stafford/Suh both re-do their deals.

Delmas is in STL today, if he passes the physical I expect him to sign there. Jake Long is there with him in the exact same boat.

From what I heard:
Jason Jones is a near-lock, he wants to play back home and he likes the role they laid out for him, which is playing RDE on base downs and sliding inside as a nickel rusher. He did that very well in TEN.

Quin will sign if the $$ is right. Asking price sounds like 4yr/$20.8M. He will give Texans the chance to match, but they cannot. If Lions can't come up close to that he will continue shopping.

Bush just wants to feel more love and courtship, I'm advised he is a done deal. That worries me more than a little.

Rumor is we're offering Bush the starting gig:

Bush signed on with the Lions for 4 years.

Excited and disappointed at the same time. Bush is ok, just wanted us to spend to fill other holes.

5 year deal for Quin.

How long is the Jones deal?

Hearing that Bush is getting around $4 mil per.

Jones is a 3 year deal I think.

Apparently Bush's cap hit this season is only $2 mil. I was skeptical of signing Bush, but overall I think his deal is a pretty damn good one.

ESPN is saying Bush got a 4-year, $16 million contract.

His contract broken down.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/13/bush-gets-four-years-16-million-from-lions/
Per a source with knowledge of the deal, Bush signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Lions. The deal includes a $4 million signing bonus and a $1 million base salary in 2013, a $3.5 million base salary in 2014, a $3.25 million base salary and a $250,000 roster bonus in 2015, and a $3.75 million base salary and $250,000 roster bonus in 2016.

The cap charges in 2013 will be only $2 million. Next year, it moves to $4.5 million. In 2015, it will be $4.5 million again, with a cap number of $5 million in 2016.
