GT: Mavericks vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Mar 14, 2013 5:02 pm

When: 8:00 PM ET, March 14, 2013
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Starting Lineups:

Spurs:
PG - Cory Joseph
SG - Danny Green
SF - Kahwi Leonard
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Tiago Splitter

Mavericks:
PG - Darren Collison
SG - OJ Mayo
SF - Shawn Marion
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
C - Chris Kaman

The last three games have been quite interesting. We've beaten the Thunder and been blow out out by the T-Wolves and Trailblazers. What we need right now is some consistency.

Go Spurs!!

I can't really fault us for that Portland game though. Yes, we didn't play the best defense, but it was good enough. Damien just went nuts on us. Aldridge and Hickson took it to us in the first half. Lillard just made shots that made you go "Wow". They put up 136 points againts a defense that was decent enough. It's hard to even score 136 points againts the Bobcats. So you gotta give credit to Portland. They just played their minds off.

Minnesota, we didn't have basically three of our current best player. Manu had to show up for that game for us to win. But again, he's been very inconsistent this year. When we're missing four of our best players, I guess it's hard to get a win. Plus, you guys saw the game on NBA TV right? Because the game's announcers was Minnesota's announcers and even they kept on repeating the line "We haven't seen this kind of shooting from the Wolves in a while". And they're even saying stuff like the Spurs are just missing shots right now and Wolves are making them. That's because us missing shots really wasn't because of their defense at all. We had great looks. Our defense however, did suck, but they didn't score 136 on us. We could only muster up 87 points. And we all know what our team issues are when Duncan isn't around. Not enough rebounding and extremely poor rim protection. When you don't have the your top 3 scorers, poor rebounding, and even poorer rim protection, in an away game, I don't think a win is what you expect.

Anyways, betting lines have us winning by 9 points. I'm betting $10 on the Spurs.

We've always bounce back very well following a loss. It'd be nice to see Kawhi again. Kawhi's emergence these last two months has brighten my days. His development as an offensive force is becoming something to look forward to in every Spurs game.

Refs allowing a ton of contact so far. This one could get interesting.

Two great plays on the break by Kawhi, he's gonna have one of those games.

This is how you finish a half. Hopefully we can carry this momentum over to the 2nd half.

Nice win. 14 consecutive 50+ win seasons for us as well.

Did we just effectively end the Mavs season with this one? Kinda feels like it.

I dunno they still got some fight left in them and they're only 4 games out with a pretty easy schedule ahead of them. I'd rather face them in the first round than the Lakers.

I think it's the opposite. I remember reading somewhere that their remaining games have a lot of home games (advantage) but a whole lot, and i mean a lot, are againts above .500 teams. But that battle for 8th seed is gonna be fun to watch. Utah is getting healthier, but they have the toughest schedule. LA looks like a lock, but hopefully that Kobe injury takes him out for quite a while, especially considering Tony missed 6 games already.

They do play a few tough western conference teams but i'd rather play their schedule than the Lakers, Rockets or even Utahs.

But like you said its going to be an outstanding race for those last two spots in the west.

I think LA ends up 6th or 7th. GS are on a freefall and the Rockets are kind of inconsistent.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
