Reggie Bush to the Lions

4 year deal. No info on the money yet.

I like the fit a lot. The Lions get what they were hoping for in Best/Leshore.

they got a punt returner, not much else. reggie bush isn't about to move the pile or anything like that. one of the biggest draft busts of the modern era. still an okay player and a worthy pickup, but he's a special teams piece and not much more.

the lions can still be very good next season, but it's not like this addition means much.

Aside from returns, Bush can also be a third down back as well. Anyone expecting more than that will probably be disappointed.

Umm, his total yardage stats favorably compare to Gale Sayers over the first 4 years of their careers, which is when everyone got on the Bush/Bust bandwagon. Bush was better as a runner in Miami when he was used more properly. He's not a great running back in terms of being an everydown back, but factor in his excellent receiving skills and return skills he has been a highly productive and prolific back.

Not just saying that as a Lions fan. Lakeshow knows I've been a Bush defender for years now, raging against the machine of misperception. Vince Young--who will be an Oakland Raider very soon--is a bust. Aaron Maybin and Vernon Gholston are busts. Reggie Bush is overhyped but not a bust anymore than Chris Bosh is a bust.

Excellent analysis ICE, as usual. He immediately sells tickets, and the punt return game has all of the sudden hit HYPER-DRIVE! You cannot single him up with a Linebacker on the outside, thats a touchdown waitin to happen with his speed. He brings multiple things, while most folks single in on one aspect of his game and immediately drink the HATERade.

However, the teeeny tiny little sentence at the bottom THE SHOW disagrees with. "Reggie bush is overhyped." Many say that is a correct analysis, but I SAY HE HELPED HIS TEAM WIN THE CHIP!! HYPE EXPECTATIONS MET!

But thats all I'll say about it, before the onrush of HATERs start in about USC is crap, reggie was given a house etc....

I think the assessments of Reggie are getting a little hyperbolic on both sides here.

He's a good back and Detroit did well to land him.

Backfield needed an upgrade. Lions made a move. Have to commend them for that. Now, they need to do something about that defense.

Got Delmas back. Now he needs to stay on the field and stop trying to make every play a big play.

I love what the Lions have done in Free Agency this summer, at least as to what they added. The Delmas (if healthy) + Quinn Safety combo could prove to be one of the better in the NFL, and Bush is an upgrade over Best.

Reggie can get you 1000 yards rushing on 5YPC on a team that can't throw to create space, or he can pile up 90+ catches on a top tier passing offense.

If he's healthy, he's a solid every down option with the threat to take it to the house on any play. Can get 4-5 yards consistently, top tier receiver and pass blocker, dangerous return threat, outstanding in the locker room. Guy can literally fit in anywhere.

Reggie Bush WAS overhyped. He's way underrated now, if people think he can't do anything other than being a third down back :dontknow:
